이 글은 한국 학계에 엄존하는 중국근현대철학사의 결핍을 극복하고 보다 진전된 중국근현대철학사를 서술하기 위한 시론이다. 한국 학계에서 중국근현대철학의 저변은 취약하다. 취약한 근현대철학은 중국철학과 동시대의 괴리를 야기한다. 일찍이 미조구치 유조는 동시대 중국에 관심이 없는 일본의 중국학을 ‘중국 없는 중국학’이라고 비판했다. 해외 학계에 중국근현대철학사 서술이 존재하지만 철학사가 아카데미즘과 형이상학, 혁명이데올로기에 전유되어 있다는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 전자는 펑유란 이후 신유가 그룹이 주도하며 전통적 유불도, 서양철학의 형이상학이 철학사 서술의 기준이다. 후자는 사회주의 중국에서 형성되었으며 혁명이데올로기와 유물론 철학이 철학사 서술의 근간이 된다. 이 두 극단과 차별화되는 경향으로 근대중국의 격변에 대한 관심을 근현대철학사 서술과 연관 지은 리쩌허우와 궈잔보의 업적이 있다. 동시대성을 담지하는 근현대철학사는 연구대상의 전환을 통해 성취할 수 있다. 특정한 명망가 중심의 학안식 서술에서 탈피해서 근대의 사회체제, 가치관을 표상하는 새로운 관념을 연구 대상에 포섭하는 것이 유효한 방안이다. 근대 다시 쓰기를 통한 중국근현대철학사 서술은 사실상 ‘중국 없는 중국학’인 한국 ‘중국철학’의 현 상태를 타개하는 작업이자 궁극적으로는 중국철학의 현재적 생명력, 현실적 위상 더 나아가 성장가능성을 강화하는 작업이다.
This article is an attempt to overcome the shortage of the field of Chinese modern philosophy in Korean academia. In the Korean academic world, the basics of Chinese modern philosophy is weak. Vulnerable modern philosophy let Chinese philosophy distant from contemporary ones. Earlier, Mizoguchi, Yūzō criticized Japan's Chinese studies, which did not care about China at the time, as "Sinology without China." There are several volumes on Chinese modern philosophy in China and Western academia. In those cases, Chinese modern and contemporary philosophy is appropriated to academism, metaphysics, and revolutionary ideology. The former is led by Neo-Confucianists group after Feng Youlan, and the traditional philosophy and the metaphysics of the Western philosophy are the basis of the description of the philosophical history. The latter is formed in socialist China, and revolutionary ideology and materialistic philosophy form the basis of philosophical history. The tendency to differentiate from these two extremes is the accomplishments of Li Zehou and Guo Zhanbo, which relate the interest of modern Chinese upheaval to the narrative of modern philosophy. Chinese modern philosophy history have to be rewrote based on the concern on the development and construction of thoughts in the context of modern age. It is an effective way to move away from a particular reputation-centered narrative description and shift attention to a new notion which represent modern social systems and values. Narrative of Chinese modern philosophy through rewriting the Modern is a work that actually transcends the present state of Chinese Philosophy in Korea which is 'Sinology without China' virtually and ultimately strengthens the present vitality and realistic position of Chinese philosophy.
