본 연구는 글로컬 문화의 개념을 바탕으로 한국의디지털 콘텐츠 중 하나인 웹드라마의 발전과정을 설명하고 한류 콘텐츠로서 발전가능성을 살펴보려 한다. 글로컬 문화는 세계적 그리고 지역적 콘텍스트의상호작용에서 생성되며 초국적으로 소비된다. IT산업의 발전과 한국인들의 디지털 문화이용률이 고조됨에 따라 한국의 디지털 문화콘텐츠는 다양화되고 있으며 스낵컬처가 유행하게 되었다. 한류의 혼종적 특징을 고려하면서, 본 연구는 웹드라마의 특성과 향후웹드라마가 한류의 지속적 발전에 기여할 수 있는방향을 논의할 것이다. 이를 위해, 한국 웹드라마의발전과정과 대표적 웹드라마의 특징에 관한 2차자료와 웹툰 제작자와의 인터뷰 자료를 분석할 것이다. 한국 웹드라마는, OTT 콘텐츠라는 형식적인 특징 외에도, 한국의 사회문화적 특성 및 다양성을 추구할수 있는 대안이 될 수 있다. 비록 수익창출의 가능성이 낮아 웹드라마에 대한 투자 및 제작기회가 적고외국의 자본에 의존하고 있지만, 한국 웹드라마는 감각적 스토리텔링을 통해 한국의 청년문화 및 문화적다양성을 나타낼 수 있고 웹툰 및 웹소설과 OSMU전략을 통해 확산될 수 있다는 점에서 의미가 높다. 웹드라마의 다양한 스토리를 해외 한류 팬들에게 지속적으로 전달한다면, 해외 한류 팬들의 제한적 소재의한국 드라마에 대한 불만을 완화하고 한국에 대한이해를 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
This study explains the development process of a Korean web drama and explores its possibility to flourish Korean Wave based on the concept of glocal culture. Glocal culture is developed through the interrelation between global and local contexts and is transnationally consumed. With the growth of IT industry and increase of digital content consumption in Korea, Korean digital culture contents become diversified. Also, a snack culture is spread. This research uses both the secondary resources related to the conditions of Korean web dramas and the interviews with web drama producers. Korean web dramas can suggest new aspects to understand Korean socio-cultural characteristics in present. Also, the web dramas can be developed through the OSMU of Korean web contents, such as webtoon and web novels. By showing a diversity of Korean culture, it can be said that Korean web dramas helps foreign Korean Wave fans to understand a variety of Korean culture and promotes cultural communications with the fans.
