본 연구는 우리나라에서 1970년대부터 2014년까지 영성을 주제로 발표된 연구의 전반적 동향을 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 향후 영성연구의 주요과제 및 발전방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 총 941편의 논문을 분석대상으로 선정하고 이 논문들을 학문분야와 연도별로 연구방법, 논문유형, 영성관점, 연구대상, 측정도구, 분석방법 및 영성변수유형에 따라 차례로 분석하였다. 이 분석결과를 바탕으로 향후 연구에서 중요하게 다루어야 할 연구과제들을 탐색하였다. 우리나라 영성연구의 주요 과제는 다음의 네 가지로 압축될 수 있었다. (1) 연구방법의 다원화, (2) 연구대상의 다변화, (3) 한국인의 영적 특성을 측정하기에 적합한 ‘한국형’ 영성척도의 개발, 그리고 (4) 효과성이 객관적으로 입증된 영성증진 프로그램의 개발이다.
The purpose of this article is to examine the overall trends of spirituality research performed in Korea from the 1970s to 2014, and then to suggest important topics of the research. In this article a total of 941 studies were selected for analysis. Research methodology, type of publication, view toward spirituality, participants of research, measuring instrument, method of analysis, and type of spirituality variable were analyzed respectively as a function of academic field and publication year. Based on these results the topics to be addressed in the future spirituality research were determined: (1) diversification of research methodology, (2) diversification of participants, (3) development of the “Korean” spirituality scale, and (4) development of the spirituality enhancement program, the effectiveness of which is empirically supported.
