<처음 만난 사람들>은 북한이탈주민과 외국이주노동자가 남한에서 어떤 식으로 정착을 해나가는지 초점화하면서 그들이 안고 있는 다기한 문제들에 접근하고 있는 저예산 한국독립영화다. 이 작품에서는 북한이탈주민인 진욱과 혜정, 외국이주노동자인 팅윤, 홀아비로 살아가는 최형사가 등장하여 서울이라는 공간에서 경계인으로 사는 것이 얼마나 고단한지를 보여주고 있다. 먼저 인프라노마드로 살아가는 네 인물은 일상에서 각자 ‘상실’을 경험하고 있다. 그것이 주된 모티프가 되어 서사를 전개해나간다는 것은 유의미하다. 그 상실은 정착할 장소, 사랑하는 애인, 가족 등의 부재로 나타나는데, 인물들은 상실한 것을 찾지 못하고 상처만을 확인하는 모습을 보여준다. 더불어 이들의 정주하지 못하는 삶은 이주를 지속해야 하는 디아스포라적 성향과 닮아 있다. 이것은 작품 곳곳에 배치된 서사 장치를 통해 확인할 수가 있다. 그 장치들은 경계인의 삶을 직접적으로 보여주는 데 기여하고 있다. 따라서 언어적 차이에서 비롯되는 소외의식, 정주할 수 있는 장소의 부재 혹은 상실, 경계에 놓인 이방인들의 연대감과 토포필리아 지향성이 경계인의 삶을 보여주는 서사적 장치에서 드러나고 있다. 요컨대 이 작품을 통해서 우리는 진정한 소통의 의미, 정주하지 못하는 그들의 장소 상실, 그리고 현실적인 삶 속에서 인프라노마드를 타자로 대해왔던 시선과 목소리에 대해 반성할 수 있다. 이들을 대하는 다양한 편견들을 걷어내는 것이 선행될 때 북한이탈주민이나 외국인 이주노동자 문제는 긍정적으로 해결될 것이다.
<Hello, stranger> is low-budget independent film that focus on how defector and migrant worker are live, then approaching their various problems. The characters include Jinwook and Hyejung the North Korean defectors, tingyun-foreign migrant worker and detective Choi a widower and shows a how hard living as marginal man in Seoul. First, each of four characters living in infra-nomad are experiencing a ‘loss’ in daily life. Those are became the main motif and developed the epic is meaningful. The loss shows up in the absence of including a place to settle down, lover, family and the characters are not find the loss but only check the wound. In addition, these life who can not do the settlement(life stay in one place) similar to tendencies of diaspora that must be continued migrate. This can check throughout the various describe device. The devices are contributing to show a marginal man's life directly. Therefore, the epic device that reveal marginal man's life showing sense of alienation from linguistic differences, absence or loss the place that can be settle, the solidarity of strangers on boundary and topophilia orientation. In short, through this work we can reflect the meaning of a real communication, loss the place of their who can not be settle, and eyes and voice that had been treated outsiders with infra-nomad in real life. If only be preceded a variety of prejudices then the problem is resolved positively in the defectors and foreign migrant workers.
