Recently, problems related to consumer safety, such as the case of humidifier disinfectant, are constantly occurring. As a result, people's interest in safety is growing and consumer anxiety is being amplified. Under this circumstance, on January 28, 2017, the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act was enforced to manage the safety management system of electric appliances and household goods in a unified and comprehensive manner. However, conflicts among stakeholders have surfaced, arguing that the government is over-tightening regulations around small and mediumsized businesses before and after the enactment of the law. Therefore, this study suggests improvement plan by analyzing major revisions and problems of the Law. This amendment changed the law and terminology, and integrated the safety management system for electric goods and household goods. In the meantime, the content and level of regulation in the third stage has been changed, and the obligations of markers, lenders, brokers and agents have been increased. However, analyzing the contents of the law, problems were found in terms of integrated management of electric goods and household goods, scope of regulated persons, regulatory framework, certification cost, revision procedure. Based on this analysis, this study is divided into four sections: 1) Separation of electric goods and household goods management system, 2) Adjustment of scope and burden of regulated persons, 3) Improvement of regulatory system, 4) Analysis of regulatory impacts, Suggesting a plan.
