본 연구는 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동이 유아의 언어표현력 및 음악적 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 서울시 K구에 위치한 S유치원의 4세 두 학급의 유아 20명을 각각 실험집단과 비교집단으로 배정하였다. 실험집단을 대상으로 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동을 20회 실시하였다. 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동의 효과를 알아보기 위하여 언어표현력 검사와 음악적 태도 검사를 실험 처치 전․후에 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동은 만 4세 유아의 언어표현력 전체 및 하위요소인 어휘 수, 문장 수, 문장의 길이 모두에서 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동은 만 4세 유아의 음악적 태도 전체 및 하위요소인 탐색, 표현, 감상 모두에서 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동이 유아의 언어표현력 및 음악적 태도의 향상에 효과적으로 작용하였음을 알 수 있다. 본 연구를 통해 나타난 결과를 토대로 스토리텔링을 통한 음악 감상활동이 현장의 교사들에게 음악 감상 활동의 변화를 촉진하고 질적 수준을 높이기 위한 기초자료로 제공되길 기대한다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of music appreciation activities through storytelling on the language expressiveness and musical attitude of young children. The subjects in this study are 20 selected 4-year-old young children from two classes in urban community and they are divided into two groups: an experimental and a control group. The experimental group engaged in music appreciation activities through storytelling for 20 times, To determine the effects of the music appreciation activities through storytelling, a language expressiveness test and a musical attitude test were carried out before and after the experiment. The findings were as following: First, the music appreciation activities through storytelling were found to exert positive influences on the overall language expressiveness of the 4-year-old children, as well as on the sub-factors such as the number of vocabulary in use, the number of sentences, and the length of sentences. Second, the music appreciation activities through storytelling were found to have positive impacts on the overall musical attitude of the 4-year-old children, and on the sub-factors, such as exploration, expression, and appreciation of music. Therefore, it is found that the music appreciation activities through storytelling are effective at improving the language expressiveness and musical attitude of the preschoolers. This study is expected to provide early childhood teachers useful information on how to change music appreciation activities for the better and how to improve the quality of the activities.
