This work aims to analyze “the elements of comicality” represented in the series of anonymous detective of Eduardo Mendoza. The author is considered as one of the most prominent authors in the Spanish black genre. From its first publication of the novel The Truth About Savolta case (1975), he showed interest in the detective genre as an instrument to denounce the society of that time and began to write the series of anonymous detective consisted of a total of five works: the mystery of the haunted crypt(1979), the labyrinth of olives(1982), the adventure of the ladies(2001), the entanglement of the bag and life(2012) and the secret of a missing model(2015). Its protagonist has contributed much to the success of this series until today thanks to his peculiarities and his simplicity, accompanied by madness, anonymity, etc. For these aspects his works are full of humor and laughter. This type of comicality that includes such elements as the black novel does not forget to criticize the Spanish society of each period either. However, the great sense of humor represented by Eduardo Mendoza gives readers more intimacy. So in this study we will analyze the series just focusing on “the elements of comicality” through the study of madness, costumes, lies and parody.
