효율성을 근거로 하는 파놉티콘의 형태로부터 전주형, 일자형, 방사형 등의전체주의 시기와 절충형의 시기를 거쳐 교정시설은 각론적으로 점차 클러스터화 되는 방향으로 진화해왔다. 그것은 효율적이고 예측 가능한 교정중심의CPTED 통제방법론이 정교화 된 과정이었다. 본 연구의 목적은 1970년대 이후 등장하기 시작한 교정시설의 클러스터화의 범죄예방 통제방법론의 유연적공간구조에 대해서 분석하여 이전 시대의 유형과 다른 CPTED 공간구성 방법론을 분석하는 것이다. 현대 교정시설은 장기적 관점에서 보다 효율이 높고교정효과가 높은 인간적 처우가 가능한 환경을 부여할 수 있는 공간을 필요로 하고 있으며 선진 교정시설에서는 이러한 시대적 변화에 맞추어 클러스터형의 건축각론을 실험하고 정착시켜왔다. 클러스터형 교정시설은 하나의 기본클러스터 4개가 모여 조합되어 하나의 유닛을 형성하고 이러한 4개의 클러스터는 중앙부의 통제장치를 통해 관리되면서 교육, 운동영역과 다른 유닛의 영역으로 확대, 연결되는 방식이 사용됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 이것은 예측되는순응과 자율적 통제시스템이 진화된 것으로 보아야 할 것이며 결과적으로 장기간의 시간이 흘렀을 때 더 강력한 교정효과를 발휘하는 유연적 방법론이되고 있다.
Correctional facility is the main architectural particular standing for the confinement, control and correction after time of reason. Correctional facility was invented and developed as means for establishing authority of reason through punishment and confinement and as means for separation and exclusion from ordinary citizens. That has been evolved showing the ambivalent confrontations of modern reason development in the same time severe side effects. It has been evolved from Panopticon type for maximum efficiency into totalitarian utility pole type and finally into Cluster Unit type until now. It was the sophisticated process of CPTED control methodology for efficient and predictable correction. The purpose of this study is to analyze flexible spatial structure for clustering methodology of correctional facilities after 70's. In detail, I will analyze the meaning of architectural particulars of flexible control methodology through unit composition with clusters. CPTED concept is focused on crime prevention through environmental design, direct facilities like correctional facilities are main architectural particulars for control and management for crime prevention.
