번역은 원문의 내용과 의미를 정확하게 이해하고 번역문으로 올바르게 표현하고 전달해야 한다. 즉 번역작업이란 크게 두 가지 과정, ‘원문 이해 과정’과 ‘번역문 표현 과정’으로 이루어진다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 본 논문은 현존하는 일본 최고 인기작가인 무라카미 하루키(村上春樹) 문학의 한국어판 번역에 대해 번역작업의 두 가지 과정인 ‘원문 이해 과정’과 ‘번역문 표현 과정’에서 나타난 오역과 번역투를 중심으로 검증･조망하고 그 해결 방안을 모색하면서 대안을 제시하였다. 무라카미 하루키 문학의 한국어판 번역의 검증 작업을 통해 일차적으로는 일본문학과 일본문화를 제대로 이해하고 수용할 수 있으며 궁극적으로는 한국문학과 한국문화, 한국의 번역문화가 나아갈 올바른 방향을 가늠하고 제시할 수 있다.
Translation must deliver the context and meaning of the source text to the target text correctly and accurately. In other words, translation is consisted of two parts; ‘Understanding of the Source Text’ and ‘Expression of the Target Text’. From this point of view, this paper analyzes the translation of Korean version of Haruki Murakami’s novel, one of the most repetitional Japanese writers. Particularly, focusing on the mistranslation and translationese during the processes of ‘Understanding of the Source Text’ and ‘Expression of the Target Text’ to suggest solutions and alternatives. Verifying the Korean version of Haruki Murakami’s novel makes readers perceive the Japanese literature and accept cultural meaning. Ultimately it can lead the correct vision of Korean translation, literature, and culture.
