북한지역에서는 혁명화 및 우상화에 지명을 활용하기 위해 우리의 고유지명을 북한식 지명으로 개정하여 사용하는 경우가 많이 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 과거 북한지명과 현재 북한지명의 비교·분석하여 북한식 지명을 고유지명으로 복원하는 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 평성시를 대상으로 7484개 구한말 지명과 202개 현재 관심지점 지명의 위치를 1km 버퍼를 이용하여 비교·분석하였다. 분석결과 평성시의 현 관심지점 지명 중 102개의 지명에 대해 164개의 구한말 지명이 비교대상이 되었으며, 이중 약 30% 정도는 구한말 지명으로 복원이 가능할 것으로 판단되었다. 향후 통일을 대비하여 북한식 지명에 대한 고유지명으로의 복원이 지속적으로 확대되어야 할 것이다.
In North Korea, there are many cases in which original place name has been revised as their own style in order to utilize the place name for revolutionization and idolization. In this study, we tried to suggest a method of restoring North Korean place names into their original place names by comparing and analyzing their past and present names. For this purpose, the locations of 7484 past place names in the latter of the Joseon Dynasty and 202 present place names in the point of interest (POI) data were compared and analyzed using 1km buffer. As a result, it was found that 164 old names could be compared with 102 POI names in Pyeongseong city, and about 30% of the POI names could be restored to the old names. In order to prepare reunification in the future, the restoration of the North Korean name should be continued.
