본 논문은 21세기 오순절 성령운동과 현대 오순절 신학이 지향해야 할 시대적사명이 무엇이며, 이에 대한 신학적 연구 주제가 어디에 있는지를 고민하며 풀어보기 위한 하나의 예비적 연구다. 현재 장기적인 교회 침체 시기에 있어서 이러한 학문적 과제는 먼저 신앙운동의 역사적 맥락을 재해석함으로써 민족의 집단적 고난 가운데 펼쳐진 역동적 성령 체험의 역사를 새롭게 조명하는 데에서부터 그 연구의 타당성을 찾고자 한다. 초기 성령운동은 민족의 고난과 역경 가운데 신앙적으로 동참했고, 집단적 수난의 위기 속에서도 핍박과 순교를 두려워하지 않은 공동체적 신앙 체험이었다. 이에 관한 국내 교회사 연구자들의 학문적 평가는 안타깝게도 신학적으로 보수적 진영과 진보적 진영 사이에서 논쟁된 역사 인식의 간극만을 보여주고 있다. 연구자는 이러한 양측의 상반된 성령운동의 역사 평가에 대한 논쟁을 소개하고 이에 관한 비판적 역사 평가 입장이 어떠한 문제점을 갖고 있으며 그 학문적 결과의 한계가 무엇인지를 칸트와 딜타이, 그리고 가다머의 철학적 관점에서 고찰하고자 한다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 시민 사회와 국가, 더 나아가 인류 사회에 기여할 수 있는 종교적 공공성의 의미를 공적 책임성이라는 주제 아래 논의할 연구의 실마리를 찾고자 한다. 그러므로 본 연구는 오순절 교회의 신앙과 신학이 궁극적으로 지향해야 할 방향, 곧 사회적이고 윤리적인 책임의식을 중심으로 실천적인 신앙운동의 이론적 모형을 제시한다. 이를 위한 이론적 근거의 조건으로 서구 유럽 신학, 특별히 종교개혁 신학과 19세기 개신교 신학의 역사를 추적하여 그로부터 형성된 두 가지 학문적 방법론인 연역적이고 귀납적인 이론의 규범을 현대 오순절 신학의 발전적 원리 규범으로 수용하고자 한다. 사회적 공공성과 시민 사회의 공동선을 위해 노력해야 할 신학의 과제는 공적 책임성을 기초로 한 사회적 교회론을 정립해야 할 필요성이 대두된다. 따라서 연구자는 본회퍼의 사회학적 교회 이론의 분석을 통해 이에 대한 연구 대안을 제시할 것이며 아래로부터의 평등한 신앙 체험의 운동, 즉 평신도 공동체 신학의 가능성도 함께 논의하겠다.
This paper is a preliminary research project to understand what the theological mission of the Pentecostal movement in the 21st century and modern Pentecostal theology should aim at and where the theological research theme is located. In the current period of long-term church stagnation, this academic task first seeks the validity of the study, from the re-interpretation of the historical context of the faith movement to newly illuminating the history of the dynamic spiritual experience in the collective suffering of the nation. The origin of this research theme is that the Holy Spirit movement in Korean Christianity was not a history of subjective faith developed in the religious and individual realm. Re-evaluation of the history of the Holy Spirit movement is not merely reaffirming the faith movement that occurred in the past history, but it has a creative research purpose to find out what the future movement of the Holy Spirit and the Pentecostal theology should go through. In this sense, this study suggests a theoretical model of practical faith movement centered on the direction of faith and theology of Pentecostal church ultimately, social and ethical responsibility consciousness. The task of the theology that should strive for the social publicness and the common good of the civil society is the need to establish social ecclesiology based on public responsibility. In this study, I will present a research alternative through the analysis of Bonhoeffer’s sociological theories of churches and discuss the possibility of the exercise of equal experience of faith from below, that is, the possibility of laity community theology.
