300 years of Song Joon Gil Family from Dong Choon Dang, state of affair and life of the Korean letters from the possession

이 연구는 동춘당(同春堂) 송준길(宋浚吉, 1606~1672)가에서, 송준길 장인과 장모로부터 13세대 300여 년 동안의 한글편지 소장 현황과 삶의 모습을 살펴본 것이다. 발수신자별 소장편지의 현황은 필자가 현재까지 파악한 바로는 발신자는 61인이고, 편지건수는 428건이다. 현전 한글편지는 이 집안사람들의 삶의 소통방식을 적나라하게 보여주고 있다. 송준길가는 우리나라 역대 가문의 역사에서 가장 많은 한글편지를 소장한 것으로 파악된다. 후손들이 지속적으로 선대의 한글편지를 고증・정리・보존・유통시키는데 심혈을 기울인 결과이다. 이렇듯 선대의 기록물에 대한 고증은 남성과 여성, 한문과 한글이라는 구분 없이 이루어졌다. 이 점이 여타 가문에 비해 특이점으로 지적할 수 있으며, 송준길가 만의 소통의 인문정신이라 하겠다. 각 장에서는 살펴본 가족관계별 사례는, 남편과 아내는 송준길과 정매랑, 친정아버지와 딸은 정경세와 정매랑, 어머니와 아들은 배천조씨와 송병하, 장모와 사위는 안동권씨와 송병하이다. 이 편지들이 보여주는 인문학적 의의는, 첫째, 사랑과 소통의 가족문화가 표상화되어 있다는 점. 둘째, 여성문화 존중의 인문정신이 들어있다는 점. 셋째, 조선시대 생활사의 보고라는 점. 넷째, 가족사의 기록화와 고증정신이 들어있다는 점이다.

This study investigates the state of affairs and life of 13th generation for over 300 years of Korean letters from the possession of Song Joon Gil's parents in law from Song Joon Gil (宋浚吉, 1606~1672) family of Dong Choon Dang (同春堂). There were 61 senders of the Korean letters in possession of Song Joon Gil family, and there are total of 429 letters. The 429 letters frankly illustrate the family's way of life and communication. The summary studied from each page is as follows. The Song Joon Gil Family is understood to possess the most letters in Korean in the history of family from all times in Korea. The decedents continuously devoted to historical research, organization, preservation, and circulation of the Korean letters left by their ancestors. The historical investigation of ancestors' records has been constituted without the classification of sex, or language (between Chinese characters and Korean alphabets). This humanistic spirit of Song Joon Gil family's means of communication can be pointed out as a unique characteristic.
