이 논문의 목적은 휴먼커뮤니케이션의 핵심을 ‘살아 있음’(생명)에서 구하고, 이를 최근인공지능(AI)이 커뮤니케이션영역에 적용되면서 나타나고 있는 기계커뮤니케이션현상에대한 비판의 준거로 제시하는데 있다. 이를 규명하는 과정에서 본 논문이 의거하는 이론적 입장은 선불교의 참선수행론이다. 선불교의 참선수행론의 정수는 깨침, 즉 확철대오(廓 徹大悟)하여 심신(心身)이 적멸한 사지(死地)에서 대활(大活)하는 것이라고 한다. 대오하지 못하면 살아있어도 산송장에 불과하다고 하니 오직 크게 깨달아야만 참된 의미에서 살아 있다는 것이다. 이러한 선불교가 말하는 ‘살아 있음’의 의미에 대해 규명하면서 그런 기준에서 볼 때, 살아 있는 커뮤니케이션과 죽은 커뮤니케이션이 어떻게 구분될 수 있으며, 우리가 살아 있는 커뮤니케이션을 구사하기 위해서 어떤 수행이 필요한지를 탐구하였다.


The purpose of this thesis is to look at the meaning of communication in the age of artificial intelligence. As an artificial intelligence is equipped with intelligence to think, judge and reason for what it regards as a unique function of human, humans are losing ground. In the field of journalism, this is no exception. So-called robots journalism appears, and it is likely that the time when artificial intelligence writes articles will come soon rather than writing reporters. At this point, I think it is important to have a well-balanced view of robot journalism to think critically about the essence of human communication, rather than concentrate on developing robot journalism. In this paper, I have found the essence of human communication differing from machine communication in ‘living’ or ‘life’ and have searched for the meaning of ‘living’ and ‘life’ in the theory of Zen Buddhism. In Zen Buddhism, only by awakening the nature can it be a living human being. That is to say, it can be said that only by awakening the nature you can live in a true sense. Otherwise, even if life is attached to a person, it is merely a matter of birth. Therefore, ‘living communication’ is communication in a state of breaking the mind. It is not communication using stereotyped language, formalized language, but original communication using one-time language. It is not a word of artistic communication caught in a passion, It is not a communication that is obsessed with conceit, hidden intention, but a pure and innocent word that is a communion of the speaker, words and actions.
