본 논문은 제4차 산업혁명의 본격적 도래를 예견하는 개념인 ‘기술적 특이점’의 관점을 차용하여, 한국신화의 상상력 속에서 그것이 어떤 식으로 구현되고 있는가를 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 주지하다시피 ‘기술적 특이점’은 기술의 변화가 급속하게 이루어져 현재의 인간의 생활을 더 이상 되돌릴 수 없게 만드는 가상 지점을 뜻한다. 따라서 ‘기술적 특이점’은 이전과 이후의 경계가 획정되는 지점이기도 하다. 이것은 한국신화에서 동물적 상상력에 익숙한 ‘동물로서의 인간’이 이전의 상태에 경계를 지으면서 ‘식물적 상상력을 하게 되는 인간’(말하자면 신인류)으로 초월하려는 것과 일정한 상동관계에 있음을 암시해 준다. 그런데 기술적 특이점이 인간과 기계의 분별이 거의 없어지는 지점에서 태동되는 것처럼, ‘식물적 상상력을 하게 되는 인간’ 역시 ‘동물로서의 인간’과 거의 분별이 없어지는 지점에서 태동하게 되는데, 한국신화에서는 그 추동적 역할을 한 것으로 ‘농경’을 얘기하고 있다. 그 점에서 ‘농경’의 도래가 보여준 방향성과 추동성은 ‘기술적 특이점’의 오랜 원형(原型)이라고 할 수 있다.
The purpose of this paper is to examine how the technological singularities are realized in the imagination of Korean myth through the viewpoint of ‘technical singularity’ which is the main concept of the fourth industrial revolution. As we all know, ‘technological peculiarity’ is a virtual point that makes rapid change of technology and makes human life no longer irrevocable. Therefore, ‘technical singularity’ is also the point where the boundary between before and after is decided. This implies that in the myth of Korean mythology ‘human beings as animals’ are in a certain homogeneous relationship with those who are transcending ‘human beings with plant imagination’ (that is to say, new humans). However, as the technical peculiarity emerges at the point where the distinction between human and machine almost disappears, the ‘human being planted imaginative power’ also emerges at a point where it almost disappears from ‘human as animal’. In Korean mythology, agriculture plays an active role in eliminating discrimination. From this point of view, the direction and drift shown by the arrival of ‘agriculture’ can be said to be a archtype of ‘technical singularity’
