사회복지계는 과학적 실천과정 적용ㆍ확대, 연구와 실천 사이의 간극 축소, 클라이언트 중심 실천 방식으로의 변화, 지역사회의 중요성 증대라는중대한 도전에 직면하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 환경적 요구에 대한 대응방안으로 새로운 사회복지실천 및 연구접근으로써 지역사회기반참여연구(CBPR)를 제시한다. 이를 위해 우선 CBPR의 개념, 발달과정, 특성, 원칙, 과정, 실천도구에 대해 소개하였다. 다음으로는 사회복지에서 CBPR이 갖는 의미로서 사회복지실천에서의 환경변화에 따른 새로운 실천 철학의 필요성 증대와 공통된 가치 및 이론체계(협력, 임파워먼트, 생태체계이론, 사회정의)를 중심으로 사회복지에서의 CBPR의 적용가능성을 논의하였다. 또한 현재까지 사회복지에서의 CBPR 활용 현황에 대해 검토하였다. 마지막으로 향후 사회복지계의 CBPR 적용 시 어려움과 유의점을 고찰하고, CBPR이 사회복지계에 주는 함의를 제시하였다
Recently, social welfare practitioners and researchers have been challenging in applying scientific practice models, translating research into practice, enhancing client-oriented practice, and applying community- centered practice. In order to respond to the challenges, this study suggests community-based participatory research(CBPR) as a new social welfare research and intervention approach. First, this study indicates definitions, development practice, characteristics and principles, practice process and practice tools of CBPR. And this study discusses a growing need for a new practice approach to respond to the changes in the social welfare environments, and the application of CBPR in social welfare, focusing on the values and theory of social welfare(collaboration, empowerment, ecological systematic theory and action research). CBPR cases in social welfare are indicated to explore CBPR’s contributions to social welfare. Lastly, in order to promote implementation of CBPR in social welfare, caveats to apply CBPR in social welfare are discussed.
