본 연구는 중학교 교사의 자유학기제 실행도를 연구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 자유학기제 운영을 직간접적으로 3회 이상 담당하여 실시한 중학교 교사들을 대상으로 3년 동안 종단자료를 수집하고 잠재성장모형으로 분석하였다. 그리고 교사들의 자유학기제 실행도 변화궤적에 영향을 주는교사관련 변인으로 자유학기제 운영경험, 보직여부, 교직경력, 자유학기제 관련 인식차이, 그리고연수유무 등을 설정하고 이 변인들이 자유학기제 실행도에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 살펴보고자하였다. 연구 대상 교사들은 2014부터 2016년까지 설문에 참여한 104명 이었으며, 매년 이들의 자유학기제 실행도를 조사하여 시작값(intercept)과 변화값(slope)을 구하였다. 그리고 예측변인에 따라 자유학기제 실행도의 시작값, 기울기에 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 그 결과로 첫째, 무조건모형을 통해 교사의 자유학기제 실행도 변화를 분석하였으며, 교사의 자유학기제 실행도는 매년계속 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 둘째, 조건모형을 통해 교사의 자유학기제 실행도의 시작값과 변화값에 영향을 주는 요인을 살펴본 결과, 교사의 자유학기제 필요에 대한 인식과 연수유무 및 자유학기제 운영 경험은 자유학기제 실행도의 시작값에 영향을 미쳤으나 변화값에는 영향을 미치지못하였다. 그 외 교사의 보직여부 및 교직경력은 자유학기제 실행도의 시작값와 변화값 모두에영향을 미치지 못하였다. 즉 교사의 자유학기제 실행도에 영향을 주는 것은 자유학기제의 필요성에 대한 인식과 이를 증진 시킬 수 있는 연수경험, 운영 경험으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 교사의 자유학기제 실행도에 미치는 교사관련 변인을 종단적으로 연구하여 성공적인 자유학기제 실행을 위한 자료를 제시하는 것에 그 의의가 있다.
The purpose of this study was to explore Teacher’s levels of use for ‘free semester’based on latent growth model. The subjects of this study were 104 middle school teachersin Busan and Changwon who were admitted in 2014 and took 3 consecutive years. Thisstudy analyzed how the average of middle school teachers’ levels of use for ‘freesemester’ changes as the number of completed years increases based on the estimates ofintercept and slope. More precisely, it was analyzed if intercept and slope of averagelevels of use for ‘free semester’ were different between perception for ‘free semester’,training frequency, experience of operation for ‘free semester’, educational career andhigher job position. The results showed that the intercept was different betweenperception for ‘free semester’, training frequency, and experience of operation for ‘freesemester’, but teacher’s educational career and higher job position did not show anydifference. These results will contribute to raising the improvement on the teacher’s levelsof use for ‘free semester’.
