1997년 『인식만(역사편)』 교과서가 사용된 이후, 만의 중등학교 역사과정은 ‘중국사→세계사’에서 ‘만사→중국사→세계사’체제로 변화했다. 2005년 『인식 만』이 『사회』로 체된 이후, 현재까지 중1은 만사, 중2는 중국사, 중3은 세계사 를 학습하고 있다. 고등학교에서도 2006년 민진당정부의 ‘95잠강’에 따른 『역사1』 만사 교과서가 사용되면서부터, 고1 1학기에 만사, 2학기에 중국사, 고2 1∼2 학기에는 세계사를 필수로 학습했다. 고3에서는 주제사로 구성된 『선수역사』를 학습했다. ‘95잠강’시기 세계사는 충분한 시수를 바탕으로 전근와 비서방 세계 까지 포괄했으나, ‘친일적’이라는 국민당의 비난처럼 일본의 식민통치에 해 우 호적으로 서술했다. 2012년부터는 국민당정부의 ‘101과강’에 따라 필수과정에서 중국사가 0.5 학기 늘었으며, 세계사는 그만큼 줄었다. 시수감축에 따라 세계사는 근현사, 서방세계 위주로 내용이 폭 감축되었다. 그 신 고3 『선수역사』가 세계문화사로 바뀌어 필수과정에서 빠진 부분을 보충했다. 세계문화사는 이전과 달리 중국문화사 내용도 포함했는데, 이는 중국사 내용을 보충하기 위한 것 외에도, 중국사를 더 이상 ‘본국사’로 보지 않는 ‘만주체의식’을 반한 것으로 생각 된다. ‘만주체의식’은 중국과의 거리두기와 함께 인접국에 한 이해 강화로 이 어져, 『선수역사』(상책)에는 ‘조선’에 한 별도의 소단원이 설정되어 한국사가 체계적으로 서술되어 있다.

Taiwanese history curriculum has changed from ‘Chinese and World History’ to a ‘Taiwanese, Chinese, and World History’ framework, since the publication of the ‘Recognition of Taiwan (History)’ textbook for middle school students in 1997. It was substituted by ‘The Social Studies’ textbook in 2005, but Taiwanese history has continued to be studied in the 7th grade. According to the High School History Course Outline in 2005, the high school history curriculum changed. Taiwanese History was newly added in the first semester of 10th grade, while Chinese history was taught in the second semester of 10th grade, and World history in 11th grade. The World history textbook included premodern and non-western history, and positively described Japanese colonial rule. Since 2012, according to the High School History Course Outline in 2011, the study of world history decreased by half of a semester, and the study of Chinese history increased by the same amount. Because of this change, premodern and non-western history studies were decreased. The decreased portions were made up by using the ‘Elective Course History’ textbook for 12th grade. This textbook was changed to a world culture history framework, including Chinese cultural history. The reason for this change was influenced by not only the intention of increasing the Chinese history portion, but also the ‘Taiwanese Sense of Sovereignty.’ The ‘Taiwanese Sense of Sovereignty’ has goals of intensifying interests in nearby countries, setting ‘Joseon’ apart as a separate entity and trying a dynastic approach to Korean history which are exhibited in the ‘Elective Course History’ textbook.
