본 연구는 음성 공학(speech technology)과 아이트래킹(eye tracking) 기술을 결합하여, 읽기(reading)의 중요한 두 요소인 음성 발화(speech production)와 안구운동(eye movement)과의 시공간적 관계에 대한 체계적이고 정량화된 실험 및 분석 방법을 소개하고자 한다. 파일럿 실험으로서 영어를 제2언어로 사용하는 한국인 화자를 대상으로 한국어 및 영어 읽기 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과는 본 연구의 분석방법이 모국어와 제2언어의 읽기 능력을 정량적으로 측정할 수 있는 지표로서의 가능성을 보여 준다.
The present study introduces systematic research methods using speech technology and eye tracking as measures of reading ability. With this aim, the study conducted a pilot experiment with native speakers of Korean learning English as a second/foreign language. The results of the study offered a way to quantitatively analyze and measure their first language and second language reading ability recording speech production and eye movement collected during reading.
