본 연구는 연구도구로 직업교육훈련생들의 진로성숙도를 측정하기 위하여 크라이티스(Crites, 1978)가 개발한 진로성숙도 검사(Career Maturity Inventory : CMI)를 김현옥(1989)이 재구성한 것을 사용하여 인천광역시 지역에 소재하는 직업교육훈련기관에서 직업교육훈련 중인 직업교육훈련생을 연구대상으로 선정하였으며, 직업교육훈련생의 인구사회학적 특성 및 성별, 결혼유무에 따른 인구사회학적 일반특성, 인구사회학적특성에 따른 진로성숙도의 차이, 직업훈련 만족도와 진로성숙도에 영향을 미치는 하위요인에 대해서 알아보았다. 본 연구결과 나타난 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인구학적 통계에서는 여자보다는 남자가, 연령대는 30대가 학력수준은 고졸 그리고 결혼유무에서는 미혼이 기혼보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 직업교육훈련과정에서는 자비로 교육을 받는 직업교육훈련생들이 많이 나타났다. 이들은 직업교육훈련과정에서 직무능력을 향상시키기 위해 노력하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직업교육훈련 경로에 대한 분석에서는 가장 많이 선호하는 경로는 “친지, 가족, 지인”의 권유로 직업교육훈련을 받으러 왔다는 점이다. 넷째. 직업교육훈련기간에 대한 직업교육훈련생들의 의견은 예상외로 장기를 선호한다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 다섯째, 차이분석에서는 학력과 결혼유무에서 큰 차이가 나타나고 있다. 특이한 점은 학력이 낮을수록 진로성숙도가 높은 것으로 나타나고 있다. 여섯째, 차이분석에서 결혼유무에서 미혼자가 기혼자 보다 진로성숙도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 일곱째, 회귀분석에서 직업교육훈련 기간과 시간 그리고 직업교육훈련 만족도는 진로성숙도에 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 직업교육훈련 내용 만족도는 진로성숙도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 관계자들은 이러한 점을 고려하여 직업교육훈련 프로그램을 작성할 때 직업교육훈련과정 속에서 직업교육훈련 프로그램이 충실하게 운영할 수 있는 방안을 모색하여야 할 것이다.
