이 연구의 목적은 국어사 교육의 인성 교육적 함의를 밝히는 것이다. 이는 교과 인성 교육의 필요성을 바탕으로 국어과 하위 영역에서 인성 교육의 적용 가능성을 모색한다는 의의를 지닌다. 이 연구는 범교과 인성의 개념과 범주를 확인하고 이로부터 국어과 인성의 범주를 정리하는 작업에서 출발하였다. 그리고 국어사 교육의 목표와 내용이 지닌 중점을 확인하였다. 이 과정에서 국어사 교육이 지향해야 할 지점이 무엇인지 고민하고 인성 교육과 결합될 수 있는 접점을 염두에 두었다. 이와 같은 두 논의를 바탕으로 국어과 인성의 개념과 범주를 준거로 삼아 국어사 교육의 목표와 내용이 함유하고 있는 인성 교육적 의미를 고찰하였다. 그 결과 국어사 교육은 목표 층위에서 ‘국어의 변화된 모습에 대한 성찰적 탐구’, ‘학습자 자신의 현재 국어 생활의 반성’, ‘국어를 향유하는 한국인으로서의 정체성’이라는 함의된 인성을 찾았다. 그리고 이러한 목표가 구체화된 내용 층위에서 ‘한글의 가치와 한국인으로서의 정체성’, ‘수난의 시대 국어를 지키려는 책임 의식’, ‘통일 시대 공감적 소통’, ‘세계 속 다양성 인정의 국어 생활’ 등의 인성을 추출하였다.
The purpose of this study is to find out character educational implications in Korean language history education. It has a meaning to get an applicability of character education at a subordinate domain of Korean language subject based on the needs of character education in the subject. This study starts at a work of arranging a category of the character in Korean language subject after confirming a concept and a category of the character in cross curricular subjects. And the objective and contents of Korean language history education is looked concretely. In this process, a pointing spot of Korean language history education is considered, and an interface which could connect to character education is concerned. Based on these two discussions, this study extracts character education’s meanings containing at a level of the object and contents of Korean language history education from a concept and a category of the characters in Korean language subject. As a result, Korean language history education gets an implication of character education at a level of the objective, “Reflective inquiry about changes of Korean language”, “Lerner’s self-reflection of current Korean language life”, “Identity as Koreans with enjoyment Korean language”. And at a level of the contents which are materialized of the objective, “Hangeul’s value and Identity as Koreans”, “Sense of responsibility which keep Korean language in the age of suffering”, “Empathic communication in the unification period”, and “Korean language life of admitting global diversity” were found as implied characters.
