논자는 본고에서 죽산 박형룡의 은퇴이후 총신 조직신학자들의 천년기론에 대해서 논구하여 보았다. 죽산은 1974년에 간행한 『내세론』에서 “대한 예수 교 장로회의 신학적 전통은 역사적 천년기전 재림론이다.”이라고 공표하면 서도, 세가지입장에대해서관용을표현했다. 그가 은퇴한 후 45년의세월 동안 총신에서 가르쳤고, 가르치고 있는 여러 조직신학자들의 입장은 어떠 하였을까를 살펴보면, 죽산이 명시화한 입장 즉, 역사적 전천년설을 변호했 던 교수들과 무천년설의 입장을 견지했던 여러 교수들로 양분되어지는 것을 알수가 있다. 역사적 전천년설을 가르치되, 박아론박사는 선친의 입장을 강력하게 변 호하는 강경노선을 택했으나, 나머지 교수들은 다른 입장에 대한 관용의 자 세를 취했다. 그들 가운데 김길성은 자신의 입장을 “무천년기 재림론을 사랑 하는 역사적 천년기전 재림론자들의 입장에 서기를 원한다”고 밝혔다. 최홍석은 세 가지 입장이 가진 공통분모를 찾는 일에 논의를 집중하고자 했다. 반면에, 무천년설을 취하는 교수들 가운데, 서철원은 모든 천년기론에 대해 부정적인 견해를 표방했고, 무천년설 만이 바른 입장이라고 천명했다. 그러나 무천년설을 확집하는 교수들 가운데 정승원과 이상웅은 ‘성경신학적 이고 구속사적인 관점’에서 이 문제를 접근하고자 노력하며, 역사적 전천년 설에 대한 포용을 하고자 노력한다. 그리고 죽산 이래 모든 총신 조직신학자 들의 공통점은 세대주의 전천년설이 비성경적이라고 거부하여 왔다고 하는 점이다.
In this paper, I have examined the millennial views of the professors of Systematic Theology who have taught at the Chongshin Theological Seminary after retirement of Dr. Hyung Nong Park. In his Eschatology pub- lished in 1973, although Dr. Park declared publicly that “the theological tradition on eschatology of the Korean Presbyterian Church is the historic premillennial view of Second Coming.” He also expressed tolerance on oth- er millennial viewpoints explicitly. On scrutinizing the positions of the professors after retirement of Dr. Hyung Nong Park, we have found that their positions are divided into two: the historic premillennialism and amillennialism. Dr. Aaron Park taught the historic premillennialism in line with his Father Hyung Nong Park and strongly rejected other viewpoints. However, other adherents of historic pre- millennialism tolerated other positions on millennialism. Among them, fol- lowing is the position of Dr. Kilsung Kim: “I would like to adopt the view- point of a historic premillennialist, who appreciated the amillennialist position.” And Professor Hongsuk Choi sought to focus the debate on find- ing a common denominator with these three positions. On the other hand, Dr. Chul Won Suh, among amillennialist professors, srongly expressed the negative opinion against every other form of millennialism and upheld the amillennialsim alone as the biblically right viewpoint. However, among the professors teaching amillennialism, Dr. Sungwon Jung and Dr. Sangung Lee have approached this problem from the ‘Biblical the- ology and Redemptive-historical theology’ and expressed to embrace the historic premillennial view. Despite the disagreements on the millennialism, all the professors of Chongshin Theological Seminary after retirement of Hyung Nong Park have rejected Dispensationalism as an unbiblical viewpoint.
