일본의 ‘개호소설’은 시의성이 뛰어난 대단히 사회적인 문학 장르라고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 ‘개호소설’을 통시적으로 고찰하였다. 그 결과 첫 번째로 ‘개호소설’은 고령화 시대를 맞이하여 단순히 가정사로 취급해 버리기 쉬운 문제인 ‘개호’를 사회의 문제로 부각시키는 역할을 하고 있었다. 두 번째로 개호소설은 그 시대에 당면한 과제가 무엇인지를 소설이라는 형식을 빌려 구체화시키고 있었다. 이러한 소설의 형태는 전통적으로 고착화 되어 있는 ‘개호’에 대한 굴절된 시선을 극복하려는 시도라 할 수 있다.
'Elderly Care Novels' of Japan is a kind of social cultural genre that is outstanding on the timeliness. This study is diachronically considered on 'Elderly Care Novels.' As the first result, 'Elderly Care Novels' takes a role of characterizing Elderly Care that is considered as simple affairs in the aging era into a social problem. The second result is Elderly Care concretized that what the task people are now up against is around that time through the novelistic form. This novelistic form was a try to overcome distorted consciousness on elderly care traditionally become permanent.
本論文は、「介護小説」をダイアクロニックの眼差しで考察した。その結果、介護小説は、単純に家庭の出来事として照らしやすい「介護」を社会問題化し、当面の課題は何かを小説の形を借りて具体化した。そして、この具体化のために小説は、伝統のもとで化石化された介護への屈折された眼差しを克服しようとする構造で書かれていたのである。 「介護小説」に表れる共通性をまとめると、①介護を通して感じる自分の老後問題 ②介護の担い手をめぐる家族或は親戚の葛藤 ③社会の老人福祉制度に対する不満 ④入浴などの状況で介護者が要介護者の性器を見ざる得ない問題 ⑤要介護者を子ども扱いをする問題であった。結果的に、この五つは、日本の介護保険法の土台になったのである。このような事から考えると、「介護小説」は、社会との現実的疎通を一番大事にするジャンルともいえる。
