예술의 새로운 분야로서 인식되고 있는 나노 아트는 과학과 예술의 교차점에 있다. 나노 아트의 작품은 나노 공간의 풍경이나 조형물들이 예술가의 미학적인 창조 과정을 거쳐 일반인의 눈으로 볼 수 있는 크기로 확대된 창조물이다. 본 논문의 주요한 내용은 다음의 순서로 기술되었다첫째, 나노 아트의 개념의 내용으로서 나노 아트 이미지의 생성 방법과 종류에 대하여 기술하였다. 나노 아트의 이미지들은 나노 공간의 물체들을 전자 현미경으로 촬영한 이미지들을 예술가들의 창조적인 작업에 의해 제작되었으며, 그 종류로는 도식도 (schematics), 공상(fantasy), 미술(fine art), 혼성체(hybrid)들이 있다. 둘째, 나노 아트를 이해하기 위한 방편으로서의 나노 기술과 전자 현미경에 대하여 기술하였다. 나노 기술은 2000년 미국 대통령인 클린톤의 국가나노기술구상 (NNI: National Nanotechnology Initiative)으로부터 시작하여 짧은 기간 임에도 불구하고 사회에 많은 영향을 주고 있다. 발전된 나노 기술의 결과로서 나노 크기의 조형물들의 제작이 가능하였으며, 전자 현미경을 이용하여 나노 공간에 대한 촬영이 가능하였다. 셋째, 나노 아트 갤러리들의 현 상황을 검토하였다. 나노 아트 전시회인 NANO, 예술로서의 과학, 그리고 NanoArt 21에 특징과 그 작품들에 대한 기술을 하였다. 결론적으로 나노 아트는 과학과 예술의 융합형 분야이며, 과학자와 예술인들의 나노 기술에 대한 가치관을 발표하는 방법이며, 또한 나노 아트는 나노 기술의 발전과 함께 지속적인 발전을 할 것이다.
Nanoart which is recognized as a new discipline of art is perceived at the intersection of art and science. A work of nanoart is a creative product to be magnified to see with human’s naked eye through aesthetic processes about nanolandscapes or nanosculpture in nanospace by artists. The research method is as follows. Firstly, the producing methods and classification of the image of nanoart in the parts of the concept of nanoart are described. The images of nanoart are obtained by creative work by artist with pictured images of the objects in nanospace by electron microscopes. The image’s of nanoart are classified as schematic art, fantasy art, fine art, and hybrid art. Secondly, the general aspect of nanotechnology and electron microscope is described for the better understanding of nanoart. Nanotechnology was ignited the development from NNI (National Nanotechnology Initiative) by U.S.A. president Clinton at 2000. Nanotechnology influenced a lot society even though it is very short period of the technology’s day. The manufacturing and the photographing of the nano-sized objects in nanospace are possible by the result of developed nanotechnology. Thirdly, the current situation of nanoart gallery is discussed. The characteristics and works are discussed in NANO, Science as art, and NanoArt 21 which are representative exhibitions in the area of nanoart. In conclusion, nanoart is a crossover discipline of science and art, a method to express the creator’s values for the nanotechnology, and will be advanced with the development of nanotechnology.
