시안(西安)은 기원전부터 2,000년 이상의 역사적 다양성과 환경, 문화적 요충지로 13개의 왕조가 수도로사용한 유서깊은 고도(古都)로써 중국의 역사와 문화에 매우 중요한 의미를 가지는 전통 공간이다. 시안은 공간의 특성상 동서양 교류의 중심에 위치하여 다양한 문화기술적 유산 가치를 가지고 있다. 이러한 공간적 특성은 한나라 시대에 서쪽으로의 영역확장을 목적으로 실크로드로 이어져 동서교통로를 개척하게 되었다. 실크로드의 개척은 중국과 서구의 문물이 본격적으로 교류하게 된 계기가 되었으며, 시안의 문화기술적 유산 가치를 연결시켜 준 중요한 매개체로 작용하였다. 이것은 서양 사회의 문화적 풍토와문명에 큰 영향을 주고, 동서양 과학기술의 융화와 국제적인 교류의 장을 열어주었다. 이처럼 시안의 전통 공간은 고건축, 문화재 등 유형의 가치로써의 의미와 함께 시안 내의 각각의 공간에내포되어 있는 사상과 지식, 정치, 정신, 시대배경, 종교 등 무형의 다양한 문화기술적 가치를 복합적으로내포하고 있다. 본 연구는 동서양 교류의 출발점이자 요충지였던시안을 중심으로 실크로드를 통해 동서양이 추구하고자 한 정통성과 가치에 대해서 문화적 측면과 기술적측면의 융합적인 관점으로 관련 시안 전통 공간 콘텐츠를 해석해 보고자 한다.
Xian is a historical old capital which was thecapital of 13 dynasties, the strategic point ofhistorical diversity and environment and culture ofmore than 2,000 years since before Christ and it isa traditional space with imporant meanings forhistory and culture of China. Xian is geographically located on the center ofexchange between the Orient and Occident and ithas various cultural and technical heritage value. Such space feature was connected to Silk Roadwith the purpose of expanding territory to the Westin Han period and pioneered the path between theEast and the West. The pioneer of Silk Roadbecame the chance for exchange of culture of Chinaand the West. Silk Road worked as an imporantmedium that connected the cultural and technicalheritage value of Xian. This influenced the climateand civilization of the culture of Western societyand opened the field of integration of sciencetechnology of the East and the West andinternational exchange. The traditional space of Xian has the meaning asthe tangible value such as old architecturea andcultural heritage as well as the intangible value ofvarious culture and technology such as the idea,knowledge, spirits, politics, background and regionthat are included in each of the spaces of Xian. This study aims to interpret the legitimacy andvalue that the East and West wanted to pursuethrough Silk Road with Xian, the starting point ofthe exchange of the East and the West with theviewpoint of integration of cultural aspect andtechnical aspect.
