이 연구는 과학적 수기치료라는 새로운 의학 개념을바탕으로 그 효능이 입증된 카이로프랙틱의 선진국 사례를 조사하고, 현재 시행되고 있는 국내 카이로프랙틱의 실태와 비교하여 보다 현실에 맞는 효과적인 행정 제도의 개선방향을 제시하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 주 연구방법으로서는 문헌연구방법을 시행하였으며,전문가 집단의 인식을 알아보기 위한 심층면접이 시행되었다. 문헌조사 및 전문가 면접을 통해 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 음성화 되어있는 국내의 현실에비해 많은 국가에서 카이로프랙틱 의사 제도를 법제화하여 그 전문성에 대한 검증을 마친 상태로써 활성화단계에 접어든 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 카이로프랙틱전문가들을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시한 결과, 선진국의 교육체계에 대한 벤치마킹을 통해 합리적인 법제도를 만드는 것을 최우선 과제로 제시하였다. 결론적으로, 카이로프랙틱이 나아가야할 이상적인 방향은 카이로프랙틱의 역할을 명확히 인지하고, 의학적인 지식기반을 마련하여 전문성을 인정받을 필요가 있으며,서양의학과 전통의학의 연계를 통해 보다 창조적인 의술을 실천하는데 일조해야 한다.
The primary purpose of this study was to workout a program for lawful commercialization ofChiropractic by comparison with foreign countries,and the application of professional opinion. Researchmethods for this study are Literature researchinclude Scanning the Articles and Interviewing. Todo, 6 Chiropractic specialists were sampled randomlythrough the reputational case selection process. Theresults of this study can be summarized as follows:Firstly, Chiropractic therapy was developed in atype of therapy that aims to prevent pain mainly onthe spin, pelvis, and other organs. With theadvanced academic system, educational developmentand achievement in research, many countries in theworld including America and Canada have adaptedChiropractic as a medical field and used Chiropractictherapy for the long times. Korea has not yetaccepted the Chiropractic therapy. Secondly,Chiropractic specialists's opinion is that they shouldlegalize it and train experts, and the training expertsshould be done by establishing colleges ofChiropractic, complex universities of Chiropractic aswell as inside medical universities. In view of theresults so far achieved, Chiropractic specialists'sopinion is that Chiropractic specialists must have acorrect understanding of the Chiropractic's duty. And, They will be acknowledged as a specialiststhrough the establishment of a body of medicalknowledge. Moreover they should develop a newmedical practice through the complementarycooperation between the traditional Oriental and theOccident medicine.
