본 연구는 세 가지 주목, 즉 하찮은 것, 자세히 보기, 생명의식에 주목이라는 관점에서 김기택 시세계에나타난 시적 미학의 창작 과정을 탐색하고자 한다. 첫째, 시인은 벌레나 꼽추와 같은 하찮은 타자들에게 주목함으로써 그들의 경계적이고 소외된 삶에 내재해있는 죽음과 허무주의에 저항하는 생명에의 집요한본능을 발견한다. 둘째, 시인은 자세히 들여다보기에주목한다. 시인의 시각적 집요함은 탐구 대상에 대한일상적이고 상투적인 인식을 역설적으로 전도시킨다. 시인의 자세히 보기는 어둠을 빛으로, 죽은 듯한 대상을 역동적인 생명체로 바꾸는 기능을 하는 것이다. 셋째, 시인은 생명의식에 주목한다. 시인의 역동적 상상력의 전이는 무생물의 생물화, 식물의 동물화와 함께 증폭되면서 겉으로는 숨죽인 듯 고요한 사물의 내면에 숨겨져 있는 본연의 솟구치는 생명력을 환기시킨다. 본고를 통해 본 김기택 특유의 시적 상상력의 미학은 벌레와 같이 하찮은 것에 대한 세밀한 관찰을 통하여 타자의 주체화를 이루고 무생물적인 것의 생물화, 식물적인 것의 동물화의 상상력의 전이를 거치면서 생명의식으로 이어지는 주제를 낳는 과정으로 요약될 수 있다. 시인은 죽음, 혹은 죽은 듯한 대상의본질에 다가서서, 내밀한 생명의 미세한 파장을 감지함으로써 생명의 존엄성과 무한한 가능성을 일깨운다. 이것이 팍팍한 일상을 죽은 듯 힘겹게 살아가는 현대인을 위한 김기택 시의 치유의 힘인 것이다.
This study is to explore the process of poetic creation in Kim Gi-Taek's poetry, which may be categorized into three attentions: the attention to the insignificant, to the close observation, and to the vitality of life. First, the poet pays attention to the insignificant others such as worms or hunchbacks, from whose marginal and isolated existence he finds the tenacity of their life instinct against death and nothingness. Second, the poet pays attention to the close observation. His visual persistence converts the ordinary and conventional perception of the target objects in a paradoxical way; in other words, the darkness is transformed into the light, the outwardly lifeless into the dynamic living. Third, The poet pays attention to the vitality of life. His dynamic imagination allows the conversion of the inanimate into the living and the plants into the animals, as a result of which he evokes the intrinsic life force gushing out of the breathlessly silent objects. In conclusion, the aesthetics of Kim Gi-Taek's poetry may be summed up as the process of finding out the life force within the insignificant through his persistently penetrative observation. The poet approaches the essence of death or the seemingly dead, perceives the delicate waves of life energy, and awakens in us the infinite possibility and sanctity of life. That is the healing power of Kim's poems for the modern readers living dead quietly their everyday dry and tough life.
