There have been many corpus-driven studies on words or linguistic constructions. Following the trend, this paper first shows various Korean verb forms and verb lemmas used in conveying bearish market situations on the basis of the corpus of stock market news written in Korean. The paper then analyzes the behaviors of the verb lemmas by using the types of expressions with which they co-occur in the sentences of the news. The environments in which the verb lemmas occur vary from lemma to lemma. Some verb lemmas occur together with only one or two types of expressions in sentences. This paper reveals that there is a wide variation in the restrictions on the occurrence environments of these verb lemmas.
