본 연구는 동화를 활용한 총체적 언어접근이 읽기학습부진아의 읽기유창성 및 읽기이해능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위한 연구이다. 이를 위하여 D시에 소재한 K초등학교 3학년 읽기학습부진아 3명을 선정하여 단일대상연구방법 중 하나인 AB설계로 실험을 실시하였으며, 읽기 유창성 검사를 위하여 기초학습기능 수행평가체제(BASA)의 읽기검사를 사용하였고, 읽기이해력을 측정하기 위하여 이야기 다시 말하기 검사(SRF)를 사용하였다. 읽기유창성 검사 결과는 매 회기별 원점수를 파악하여 그래프로 나타냈으며, 기초선 검사에 기초하여 월진전도를 고려한 개인 목표선과 비교하고 추세선을 그려 진전도를 확인하였다. 읽기이해력 검사 결과는 백분율 점수로 환산하였으며 그 결과를 그래프로 나타내어 추세선을 그리고 진전도를 확인하였다. 실험 결과, 동화를 활용한 총체적 언어접근은 읽기학습부진아의 읽기유창성 및 이해력을 향상시키는데 긍정적인 영향을 미침을 객관적인 증거를 통하여 확인할 수 있었다.


This research is an experiment research which examines effects of whole language approach with fairy tales on reading abilities of students with learning difficulties. Concrete research questions are as follows. First, how about the effect of whole language approach with fairy tales on reading fluency of at-risk students with learning disabilities? Second, how about the effect of whole language approach with fairy tales on reading comprehension of at-risk students with learning disabilities? Subjects of research were third graders in public Elementary school located in Andong-si and Daegu metropolitan city at first. Finally 3 students with learning difficulties were selected and the experiment was conducted by AB single-subject design. After each baseline, total 16 interventions and 1 maintenance evaluation were conducted for 10 weeks. For assessment of reading fluency, BASA-reading was used and for assessment of reading comprehension, Story Retelling Fluency strategy was used. For the reading fluency and comprehension, raw scores were grasped in every time and results were indicated in graph. Based on the baseline, every results were compared by individual goal considering monthly progress and progress was confirmed by drawing trend line. The conclusions obtained by research results are as follows. First, whole language approach with fairy tales makes a positive effect on the improvement of reading fluency of students with learning difficulties. It implies automaticity of reading was promoted by repeated utilization of unfamiliar words such as correct reading of words, interviewing with heros, making of new sentences among the program activities. Second, whole language approach with fairy tales makes a positive effect on the improvement of reading comprehension of students with learning difficulties. It was an opportunity to grasp the contents widely through the guessing of word meaning, investigation, making of new sentences, speaking of thorough summery during the application of program.
