본 연구는 N 장애인복지관에서 직업재활훈련을 받는 성인 정신지체장애인 11명을 대상으로 주 1회 총 33회기의 직업적응 원예치료 프로그램을 실시하여 프로그램 전․후의 운동, 정서행동, 대인관계 능력의 변화를 비교하였다. 연구 결과, 운동능력 총점평균은 사전 72.07점에서 사후 79.44점으로 평균 9.37점이 증가하였고, 통계적으로도 유의하였다(p=.004). 또한 정서행동능력의 결과로는 사전 70.42점에서 사후 80.62점으로 평균 10.2점이 증가하여 통계적으로 유의하였으며(p=.013), 대인관계능력의 총점은 사전 48.18점에서 사후 56.45점으로 평균 8.27점이 증가하여 통계적으로도 유의하였다(p=.004). 또한 직업적응 원예치료 프로그램은 정신지체장애인의 자기인식, 내적 동기화, 자기 효능감 증진, 모의 직업상황 경험 증진을 통해 개인별 행동 변화에 긍정적인 영향을 주었으나 대상자의 개별 특성과 참여도에 따라 그 효과에 차이가 있었다. 따라서 직업적응 원예치료 프로그램은 정신지체장애인이 직업을 가지고 직업생활을 유지하기 위해 필요한 직업적응능력인 운동능력, 정서행동능력, 대인관계능력을 향상 시킬 수 있는 효과적인 훈련방법이며, 더 나아가 정신지체장애인의 직업인식과 자발성 등 근로자로서의 바람직한 태도의 향상과 심리적 안정에도 긍정적인 효과를 가져 올 수 있는 방법이라 결론지을 수 있다.


In terms of data analysis, we took subjects of 11 people with mental retardation who take part in total of 33 sessions horticultural therapy twice a week at a N rehabilitation center and looked into the before and after difference of horticultural therapy on work adjustment skills verified it through the Paired t- test. As a result, the subjects' total points in physical skills increased by 9.39 on average from 72.07 before the work adjustment horticultural therapy program to 79.44 after the program, and the difference was statistically significant(p=.004). Their emotional behavior skills also increased by 10.2 on average from 70.42 to 80.62 with a statistically significant difference(p=.013). And their interpersonal relationship skills increased by 8.27 on average from 48.18 to 56.45 with a statistically significant difference(p=.004). Based on the results and discussions, it's concluded that the work adjustment horticultural therapy program is an effective training method to enhance the physical, emotional behavior, and interpersonal relationship skills, which are personal work adjustment skills needed for people with mental retardation to get and maintain a job. It's also suggested that the program can have positive influences on their desirable attitudes and psychological stability as workers including vocational perception and spontaneity through qualitative behavior changes.
