끊임없이 배우고 성장해야 하는 유아교사의 역할을 지원하기 위한 교사연수는 이미 짜여진 교과목을 집단강의 형태로 진행되던 관주도 연수의 한계를 벗어나, 스스로 앎과 배움에 매혹되고 자신이 처한 교실상황을 개선해 갈 수 있는 내적 힘과 전문성을 지원해 줄 수 있는 것이어야 한다. 동일한 주제에 관심을 가진 교사들의 자발적 참여를 특성으로 하는 교사학습공동체는 교사의 수업능력과 전문성을 향상시키기도 한다. 본 연구는 최근에 유아교사들의 관심이 집중되고 있는 ‘심미적 수업’이라는 주제 하에 학습공동체를 구성하여 강의와 워크숍, 멘토링 중심의 교사연수를 진행한 후 유아교사들이 인식한 학습공동체의 의미를 알아보는 것이었다. 이를 위해 2009년 7월부터 2009년 11월까지 5개월 동안 매월 1회 6시간씩 총 30시간 동안 현직 유아교사 51명을 대상으로 ‘심미적 수업능력 향상을 위한 학습공동체’ 연수를 적용하였다. 연구 결과 유아교사들은 학습공동체를 통해 매너리즘에 빠지기 쉬운 자신들의 교수방법과 사물을 이해하는 안목을 뒤돌아보는 반성적 기회를 가지게 되었으며, 심미적 수업을 이해하고 실천할 수 있는 자신감과 아이디어를 얻을 수 있었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 이론과 실천의 병행을 통해 교사 전문성과 수업능력을 향상시키고 유아교사의 앎과 배움의 욕구를 채워줄 수 있는 학습공동체의 가능성을 제안하고자 한다.
This study attempted to develop an early childhood teacher training model based on the concept of ‘learning community’ which is recently gaining attentions from educational fields. The learning community, a newly arising concept' to support teachers' volunteering interest of learning for their own teaching ability, should also be an appropriate way to empowering early childhood teachers' teaching efficacy as well as self confidence on their own lesson. This study, particularly utilized the 'aesthetic teaching skills' which is one of the most important part to sustain a learning community because of its fascination of interest by early childhood teachers. The developed model was applied to 51 of highly experienced early childhood teachers who attended in 6 hours of learning in every month from May to November in 2009. The learning community centered teacher training model included various types of teaching methods such as lectures, workshops, and mentoring online and off line. The participated teachers were also given an assignment to design and apply of an aesthetic lesson plan to their own classrooms at the end of the training. The results of the study showed that most of early childhood teachers expressed their feeling of ‘change’ on their own views of the world which is fresher, more beautiful and artistic. They also mentioned that they became more confident to design and to enact aesthetic lessons because of their changed views by reflecting the past where they were more likely passive and disinterest of their own lesson skills. Therefore, this study came into conclusion that the newly developed early childhood teacher training model based on 'learning community' has a much possibility to help teachers to become continuously growing learners, who can search for the way of learning to improve their own teaching expertise.
