지난 30여 년 동안 후기구조주의자들은 언어에 대한 분석을 통해 인간 이해에 대한 매우 중요한 기여를 했다. 특히 후기구조주의를 위해 문을 열어 주었던 라캉은 주체의 문제와 사회 속에서의 인간의 위치, 그리고 무엇보다도 인간과 언어관계의 문제에 관심을 가졌는데, 그에 의하면 언어는 인간 존재들 사이의 관계에 대한 모든 것을 조직한다는 것이다. 이와 같은 라캉의 견해는 언어사회화론의 한 축을 이루는 것으로 언어가 사회구조를 영속화하는 기능을 수행한다는 입장이다. 즉 라캉의 주요 의제인 상상계, 상징계와 같은 개념들은 언어의 획득과 관련이 있으며 유아기 언어의 사회화 과정을 설명해준다고 볼 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 유아기 언어의 사회화 과정을 라캉의 언어사회화론을 통해 살펴보고 이로 부터 유아교육에 적용 가능한 사유와 실천의 토대를 제공해보고자 하였다. 연구 결과 유아기 언어는 첫 번째 사회화 과정에서는 ‘상징계로의 진입을 통한 말하는 주체의 탄생’을 보여주었고, 두 번째 사회화 과정에서는 ‘상징계로의 진입을 통한 말하는 주체의 분열’을 보여주었으며, 세 번째 사회화 과정에서는 ‘상징계로의 진입을 통한 말하는 주체의 성장’을 드러내주었다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 알 수 있는 것은 주체와 사회와 언어에 대한 라캉의 견해가 유아기 언어의 사회화 과정의 특성과 이 과정에서 필연적으로 발생하게 되는 주체의 소외 문제를 예견해 볼 수 있게 한다는 것이다.
Over the past thirty years, critical contribution to human understanding have been made through analyses of languages by post-structuralists. The door to post-structuralism was opened by Lacan who was interested in the problem of the subject, the position of human in the society, and, above all, the relation between human and language. According to Lacan, language organizes everything about the relationships between human beings. This perspective holds that language perpetuates the social structure and forms one of the axes of the theory of language socialization. The major agendas of Lacan, concepts like imaginaire and symbolique, are relevant to the acquisition of language and explains the language socialization process in early childhood. This study, relying on Lacan’s theory of language socialization and considering the language socialization process in early childhood, aims to lay a foundation for a way of thinking and practicing that is applicable to early childhood education. The study finds that in the first socialization process, language in early childhood reveals “the birth of the subject to speak through an entry into symbolique”. In the second socialization process, language reveals “the split of the subject to speak through an entry into symbolique”. And in the third socialization process, it reveals “the growth of the subject to speak through an entry into symbolique.” This result implies that Lacan’s views on subject, society, and language shed light on features of the language socialization process in early childhood and predict the alienation of the subject, which is inevitable in this process.
