본 연구는 한국유아교육 발전을 위해 일익을 담당하고 있는 한국열린유아교육학회 20년의 성장과정을 분석하고 향후 발전 방향을 모색함으로써 학문의 발전에 큰 공헌을 하고 있는 타 학회들이 참고할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 수행하였다. 연구결과, 초기에 대학원생들의 스터디 모임에서 시작한 한국 한국열린유아교육학회는 회원간의 친목을 돈독히 하는 데 치중하여왔으며, 매월 개최하는 월례학술발표회, 춘․추계학술대회만이 아니라, 하계, 동계 학술대회의 개최, 해외아카데미(해외연수) 등으로 활발한 학술활동을 도모하고 있으며, 학술부 산하에 철학분과, 교육과정분과, 교수방법분과, 평가분과 등의 분과연구회를 두어 회원들의 세부 연구 분야별 연구활동을 지원하고 있었다. 또한 대학원생들을 대상으로 박사학위논문작성을 위한 연구비를 지원하고 있으며, 전년도에 한국열린유아교육학회 학회지에 게재된 논문을 평가하여 우수논문을 영어로 번역하여 국제학술지로 출간하여 우수 논문이 전 세계로 확산될 수 있도록 배려하고 있다. 향후 발전방안으로는 첫째, 우수등재학술지가 될 수 있도록 학술지 관리를 강화하고 둘째, 학술대회의 질적 수준 향상을 도모하며 셋째, 분과연구회의 활성화를 지원하고 넷째, 후속학문세대의 양성을 위한 체계적 지원이 제시되었다.
Begun as a collaborative study of graduate school students. Korea’s open association for early childhood education highlights human relations. The association carries out diverse monthly academic seminars, holds seasonal conferences, provides overseas training, and within its academic department, supports four study groups (philosophy, curriculum, teaching method, and evaluation). It also covers the research expenses of graduate students working on their dissertations and publishes an international journal by translating excellent papers into English. This study investigates over 20 years of management of Korea’s open association in early childhood education and seeks to determine its future direction. The study suggests several future directions. First, to qualify as an excellent journal. The Journal of Korean Open Association for Early Childhood Education should be managed more systematically. Second, the quality of the associations’s seminars and conferences should be raised to guide the direction of Korea early childhood education. Third, the associations should provide greater support to the four study groups (philosophy, curriculum, teaching method, and evaluation) to stimulate academic studies. Finally, the association should provide more general support to lead the next generation.
