본 연구는 국제개발협력의 활동 주체로 새롭게 등장한 사회적기업에 대해 살펴보고, 이들의 지속가능성을 탐색적으로 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 국제개발협력 관련 사회적기업의 의의와 지속가능성에 대한 논의를하였으며, 이에 입각하여 캄보디아에서 국제개발협력 활동을 하는 한국 사회적기업의 지속가능 요인을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 연구자는 캄보디아에 국제개발협력 활동을 하는 2개의 사회적기업을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구결과 국제개발협력을 수행함에 있어 NGO라는 태생적 한계를 극복하기 위해 사회적기업을설립하였으며, 고엘공동체의 경우, 사회적 차원의 지속가능성은 경제구조 개선을 통한 취약계층 경제자립및 지역경제 활성화와 환경보호에 기여하는 등을 통해 확인할 수 있었으며, 경제적 차원의 지속가능성은매출이 증가하고 있다는 것과 자원 다양성을 통해 확인되었으며, 환경적 차원의 지속가능성은 틈새시장을노렸다는 점에서 확인할 수 있었다. L뷰티의 경우, 사회적 차원의 지속가능성은 아동노동문제 해결을 위한청소년 일자리 창출 및 공동체 리더 양성 등을 통해 확인하였으며, 경제적 차원의 지속가능성은 고용창출과 비즈니스 모델을 통한 자원 다양성을 통해 확인되었으며, 환경적 차원의 지속가능성은 지역사회 공감및 네트워크 형성을 통한 생태계 확장을 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 즉 국제개발협력 사회적기업은 사회적,경제적, 환경적 요인에 의해 지속가능성이 담보됨을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과는 한국의 사회적기업 재유형화를 위한 초석을 마련하였으며, 지속가능한 사회적기업을위한 정보를 제공하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 분석결과를 통해 국제개발협력 및사회적기업 연구에 미약하게나마 기여를 하였다.
In recent years, the 'Social Enterprise' has been making an appearance as amain body of International development cooperation. The aim of this study is toexamine this 'Social Enterprise' and its sustainability. Based on this subject, we discussed and tried to analysed the factors that havemade Korean Social Enterprise. continue its activity as a Internationaldevelopment cooperation in Cambodia. After having in-depth interviews with staffs of two Korean Social Enterprisesin Cambodia, the researchers could find out that the establishment of SocialEnterprise has been started to overcome the inherent limitations of NGO. We alsocame to know that social, economical and environmental factors must interactproperly to guarantee the sustainability of Social Enterprise for Internationaldevelopment cooperations. We believe that this study can not only suggest diverse ideas but also act as astepping stone of making new patterns of Korean Social Enterprise. andInternational development cooperation.
