This study aims to suggest contents of Korean sentence education for foreigners through analysis of Korean language textbook and learners’ sentence level errors in their written texts. Hitherto, Korean sentence education for foreigners has been focused on grammatical units that can be used at firsthand in real-life communication. When producing complex sentence which more than one proposition, however, not only form and meaning of grammatical units but also measuring the importance of propositions, arranging and combining propositions according to writer’s intention should be considered. In accordance with the view of functional grammar, in this study, we define sentence as a information structure that one or more propositions are structured by intention of writer and suggest contents of Korean sentence education as follow : construction of information structure(how to judge which is a main proposition, how to compose and combine propositions depends on importance), proposition composition(word order, basic sentence structure, and argument structure) and proposition combination(meaning of grammatical units which function as a connector when combine propositions.).
