This study identified the implications to the festivals in Korea by analyzing on the cases of Nebuta festival of Aomori and Namahage Sedo festival in Akita area which are the typical festivals in Japan regarded as the advanced country of festival is concerned by aiming at the point that the history of festival is too short and ripple effect to the economy of festival is not so big except some festivals since performing the local government system in 1996 and the results of the study are as follows. Firstly, it implies the necessity of periodic survey on the features of the visitors and the consuming behavior inside the district to operate the festival effectively because the festivals are important to the residents and the companies in the district, and makes diversified influences on the district and its economic ripple effect is too big. Secondly, it was revealed that it is effective to improve the image of the district to the visitors of the festival to attract the re-visiting of the tourists to the regional festival. Thirdly, the necessity of holding the festivals with insufficient effect at the same period by establishing the festivals and networks in the adjacent areas rather than to hold the festival independently is implied. Fourth, it was revealed that the provision of independent festival for the tourist can be a strategy for the festival while the festival for the local residents by differentiating the small and traditional festivals in the district should be performed in conventional way. Fifth, it was found that the role of the administration such as the infrastructure maintenance for the festival to be successful is very important. Finally, the effect of ripple effect of the festival was mentioned in this study and it implies that the understanding and the knowledge on the festival by the residents and administrators in the competent local government shall be widened.
