The aim of this book is to acquaint the reader with the history of Siberia, an enormous swathe of contemporary Russia, covering the whole part of the Asian continent. The author’s intent has been to survey the entire history of Siberia beginning with the emergence of early humanity and ending in the twenty-first century. The account throws light on the main stages and key events occurring in this region over thousands of years. The material is divided into chronological parts, each of them covering a specific period in Siberian history. The parts are in turn subdivided into chapters, the internal structure being determined by the need to present a full account of widely varying issues in different periods.
