According to Merleau-Ponty, the world is exactly what my body perceives, and the act of perception is the foundation of all experiences and studies. The perceived world must be ambiguous world. The intersubjectivity is possible because the subject ist not in the zone of the pure transparent consciousness but mixed with the external body, and because this body forms the vague zone with the world. With their bodies, the existential subjects exchange their thinking and understand each other. So the “original language” is formed from the mixture or texture of bodies and lifeworld. Therefore, our parole can not be separated from the institutional intersubjecitve language of the lifeworld. Merleau-Ponty's thinking of lifeworld and language can be considered as a theory which might contribute to the Cultural Interaction Studies of Sea Port Cities. In our opinion, the sociolinguistics can develop and concrete the theoretical approach of Merleau-Ponty about the relationship between lifeworld and language. On the one hand, the object of sociolinguistics is the social, political and cultural meaning of linguistic systems and the variations of language use. On the other hand, it is the cultural and social influences on the language.
