Hematuria is a non - specific clinical feature of many renal and genitourinary tract disease. The presence of dysmorphic RBCs in urine make a very importance to diagnose wheth er the hematurias are the origins of glomerular or not - glomerular. This is due to distortion or fragmentation of RBCs as they pass across the glomerular capillaries or the peritubular capillary walls. These dysmorphic RBCs are very easy and simple to distinguish by phasecontrast mlcroscopy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical implication and the comparision of the results of dip strip test with the dysmorphic RBCs over 50 % in patient’s urine. A total of 116 patients were studied with microscopic and/or macroscopic hematurias. Clinical diagnoses of patients with dysmorphic RBCs over 50 % were tumor 27.3 %, disease related to renal 15.9% and to liver 15.9%. There was no relationship between dysmorphic RBCs over 50% and S. G, pH, albumin strip results in patient’s urine. Dysmorphic RBCs are typical of erythrocyturia of glomerular origin. Therefore, This study should be done as a item of routine urinalysis in future.
