This thesis examined the achievement of The poem for Sim Bangjoo(古詩爲張遠卿妻沈氏作) written by Kim Lye(金鑢, 1766~1821) in the history of East Asian epic poem in classical Chinese(漢文敍事詩) especially focusing on comparing with The peacock flies to southeast(孔雀东南飞). Consequently it was revealed that as a matter of form this poem extended the length of epic poem in classical Chinese on a large scale and made progress in it's narratization. It was also revealed that as a matter of substance this poem newly described the sensibility to the people and above all things impressively presented the idea of equality toward a new era. We can't see the finish work of The poem for Sim Bangjoo. Nevertheless I think that it is sufficient to say that The poem for Sim Bangjoo made an important invention in the history of East Asian epic poem in classical Chinese.
