A Study on the Grammaticalization Process of the Ji-Constituent SentenceHa Chi-Gun(Dong-A University)Bound noun ‘ji’ is structurally constructed with the preceding determiner, and syntactically has the features of subjective bound noun and adverbial bound noun. Subjective bound noun ‘ji’ does not have any grammaticalization phenomenon, but adverbial bound noun ‘ji’ shows various grammaticalization phenomena. Bound noun ‘ji’ has the peripheral meanings of ‘duration’ and ‘doubt’ in addition to the fundamental meaning of ‘fact’. Adverbial bound noun ‘ji’ is morphologically constructed with preceding adnominalizer ‘-nun/ un’, and is grammaticalized as endings. These endings generally have the meaning of ‘doubt/question', but sometimes have the meaning of ‘admiration/emphasis’. When ‘-nunji/unji’ is grammaticalized as an ending, it has the function of making adverb clause, or has the connective ending function in which the content of preceding clause expresses the ‘cause/foundation’ of following clause. Once connective ending ‘-nunji/unji’ is changed to final ending, it becomes less dependent on the context, and its meaning grows more subjective as it expresses the speaker's intention concerning the whole sentence. This final ending mostly expresses the speaker's ‘question/doubt’ on the hearer or the intention of 'description/feeling’.
