이 글은, 우리나라의 학생들을 대상으로 하여 우리말의 전반적인 체계를 알게 하기 위해, 85년도 국정 체제로 설정된 현재의 학교 문법에 나타난 몇 가지 문제를 지적하고 이에 대한 대안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 물론 이러한 문제는 국정 체제의 학교 문법이 처음 등장했을 당시 에는 국내의 학생들을 주 대상으로 하였기 때문에 거의 문제가 되지 않았을지 몰라도, 현재의 학교 문법은 이제 단순히 학교에서만 통용되는 문법이라는 차원을 넘어 상당히 다양한 역할을 수행하면서 우리나라를 대표하는 ‘대표 문법’ 내지 ‘표준 문법’으로서의 위치를 확고히 하고 있는 상황이기 때문이다. 따라서 현행 학교 문법에서와 같이, 설명 방식에서 심각한 문제점을 안고 있음에도 ‘규범성’이라는 학교 문법적 특성만을 강조할 경우, 자칫하면 이러한 문제는 고스란히 국어 내지는 한국어가 지니고 있는 문제점으로 인식될 수도 있는 상황이다. 이러한 문제가 야기된 근본적 이유는, 현행 학교 문법이 ‘이다’를 ‘서술격 조사’로만 규정하고 있는 데서 빚어진 것이기 때문에, 아무리 학교 문법이 어느 정도의 ‘규범성’을 띨 수밖에 없다고 하더라도, ‘서술격 조사’의 설정이 설명력을 우선적으로 고려한 것이 아니었다면, 이러한 상황이 전혀 바람직하지 않음은 두말할 나위가 없다. 따라서 지금부터라도 규범적 성격에 치중한 현행 학교 문법의 기술 방식을 개선하여 체계성뿐만 아니라 일관성도 함께 갖출 수 있는 학교 문법으로 거듭날 수 있도록 중지를 모을 일이다.

In general, School Grammar is the Normative Grammar educated in school. But no one comply with the explanation of Korean School Grammar because of it’s contradictory explanation on the one hand and the violation of the basic method in linguistics on the other hand. However the role of Korean School Grammar is extending it's influence in various fields beyond branch such as ‘Koran Education as a foreign Language’ etc. Consequently, Korean School Grammar is playing the role of representative grammar of Korean as a Korean Standard Grammar. Therefore Korean School Grammar must be improved as quickly as possible in order to function Korean Standard Grammar. Specially setting of ‘ida’ as a ‘predicative postposition’ cause many problems in Korean School Grammar. ‘Ida’ would have to be accounted as a one of ‘adjective’. So in the course of improving process of Korean School Grammar, the researcher in different field such as logician as well as Korean Linguist must participate in a mediation committee.
