국내 관광지리학 연구논문의 분석 결과, 관광행태에 관련한 연구 주제는 관광 동기와 의사 결정, 관광 인지 및 선호, 관광행위, 관광영향에 대한 인식 및 태도 등이며, 관광(자원)개발에 관련한 연구 주제는 관광자원의 유형, 관광권, 관광의 공간적 패턴과 구성, 관광(개발)의 영향, 관광 개발, 계획, 정책 그리고 갈등 등이며, 관광지역에 관한 연구는 특정 관광지의 입지 및 역할, 지리적 배경, 형성과 변화, 이벤트적 특성, 관광특구 등에 관한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 관광지리학의 연구분야는 구조주의적 관점에서 경제, 사회문화 및 정치 분야, 인간주의적 관점에서 관광주체 및 관광주체와 관광객체간의 지향적 관계 분야, 그리고 실증주의적 관점에서 관광공간, 관광체계 및 관광행태 등이었다. 한편 관광지리학의 과제로는 학문적체계, 접근방법, 연구영역 및 연구주제, 교육, 사회참여 및 전문인력 양성 등의 측면에서 검토가 이루어져야 함을 제시하였다.
The analyses of research articles related to domestic tourism geography revealed the several facts that the researches focused on tourism behavior were treated based on tourism motivation, decision making, tourism recognition or preference, and attitude influencing on tourism. The research subjects related to tourism resource & development reflected the type of tourism resources, tourism area, the tourism space pattern and organization, the influence of tourism development, planning, policy and conflict. And also the researches about tourism region have been carried out by many various topics, which include the role of tourism site, geographical background, event characteristics, tourism designation site. Generally, the main research subjects treated in the tourism geography area can be approached from three perspectives. From the structuralist perspective, the study of economy, society and culture, and politics have been carried out. From the humanistic & empirical perspective, the study in terms of relationship between tourists and the environment surrounding the tourists have been carried out. The further research of tourism geography suggests that research system, approach method, research area, research topic, education, social participation and producing specialists should be checked out in advance.
