‘영평정’, 이는 영월군, 평창군, 정선군 등 세 군을 함께 아우르는 말인데, 이들 세 지역은 여러 부분에서 다른 듯 다르지 않은 동일한 생활․문화권역이다. 그런가하면 이들 세 지역에는 <아라리>가 활발하게 전승되고 있다. 그렇다면 세 지역의 주민이 문화적으로 이웃한 것과 같이 지역의 <아라리> 가창자가 부르는 노래의 사설 또한 이웃하고 있을까하는 궁금함에서 이글은 시작하였고, 본 연구에서는 그 실마리를 지명에서 찾고자 했다. <아라리>에는 정선, 평창, 영월, 춘천, 강릉, 원주 등 시군행정단위의 지명은 물론 한치, 아우라지, 덕포 등과 같이 작은 마을의 지명도 구성되어 있다. <아라리> 가창자들은 대부분 전승되는 지명을 그대로 구성하여 구연하지만, 창자에 따라서는 자신이 거주하고 있는 지명을 사설로 엮기도 한다. 이렇게 구성된 지명을 통하여 세 지역의 지역성 및 지역의 연관성 등을 살필 수 있다. 영월, 평창, 정선 세 지역의 여러 <아라리> 가창자 또한 지명을 활용하여 사설을 구성하지만, 지명의 구성 빈도는 지역에 따라 차이가 있었다. 그리하여 영월지역의 가창자는 모두 157회 지명을 구성하였으나 정선, 아우라지, 만수산, 한치, 명사십리 등 5개의 지명이 63% 차지하고 있고, 평창지역의 가창자는 모두 51회 지명을 구성하였으나 한치뒷산, 정선, 미탄, 삼방산, 평창 등 5개의 지명이 52.9% 차지하고 있다. 그리고 정선지역의 가창자는 모두 46회 지명을 구성하였으나 한치산, 정선, 만수산, 명사십리, 아우라지 등 5개의 지명이 54.3%를 차지하고 있다. 따라서 세 지역에서 구연되는 <아라리>는 대부분 특정 지명에 집중되어 있다. 그런가 하면 지역의 지명을 활용한 경우, 영월군 가창자는 13개의 지명으로 26회 구성하였고, 평창군 가창자는 16개의 지명으로 35회 구성하였으며, 정선군 가창자는 10개의 지명으로 26회 구성하였다. 따라서 영평정 세 지역 중 가장 많은 16개 지역의 지명을 구성한 평창군 가창자는 지역의 지명 활용측면에서 다른 두 지역의 가창자보다 적극적이라고 하겠다. 그리고 10개 지명으로 26회 구성한 정선군 가창자는 지명 구성의 집중화를 보이고 있다. 곧 정선지역의 가창자는 지역의 지명을 활용하여 <아라리> 사설을 엮음에 있어 다른 두 지역의 가창자보다 특정의 지명을 중심으로 구성하는 경향이 있다.

Yeongwol-gun, Pyeongchang-gun, and Jeongseon-gun districts are not only geographically neighbor to each other but also close to each other in many fields. Also, <Arari> is sung by many people in these regions, therefore, the purpose of this paper is to find out the relationship between neighboring of these communities and lyrics of <Arari>. <Arari> includes city districts such as Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, Yeongwol, Chuncheon, Gangneung, and Wonju including small viallage names such as Hanchi, Auraji, and Deokpo. Most of singers composed song lyrics with the original place names handed down from the past, however, some singers weave name of regions where they live in. Through these place names, people are able to learn localized characteristics and also learn frequency of place name presented in <Arari> and its regional correlation. Thus, people are also able to find out lyrics preferred by singers in these three regions. When comparing three regions, Yeongwol, Pyeongchang, and Jeongseon, singers in Pyeongchang do not actively use the place name when singing <Arari> but singers in Jeongseon compose lyrics of <Arari> as actively use the place name than singers in Pyeongchang and Yeongwol. Singers in Yeongwol often compose lyrics with name of other regions rather than composing lyrics of <Arari> by using the place name where they live in. Singers in Pyeongchang are passive to compose lyrics by using place name, however, when they are using place name, they actively compose lyrics with using name of region where they live in so they are ensuring largest number of place names. Singers in Jeongseon have a characteristic of focusing on using name of region where they live in when composing lyrics. Singers in the three regions, Yeongwol, Pyeongchang, and Jeongseon compose lyrics of <Arari> by using name of regions where they live in, however, given the overall utilization of place name, ‘Jeongseon Eumnae’(Jeongseon town), ‘Auraji’, and ‘Hanchi Dwitsan’(Hanchi mountain at the back of one’s house) are mainly constructing the lyrics.
