본 논문의 목적은 『장자』의 호접몽 고사 가운데 ‘物化’의 의미를 큰 깨어남과 연관하여 밝히는 데 있다. ‘物化’의 의미 해독은 「제물론」의 종지 이해와 직결되며 「제물론」 편명의 독법과도 긴밀하게 연관되어 있다. 더 나아가 장자철학 전반에 대한 이해와 연관된다. 이와 같이 ‘物化’의 의미 해독이나 「제물론」 편명의 독법은 장자철학에 대한 해석자의 관점 차이를 반영하고 있으므로 먼저 「제물론」 편명에 대한 다양한 독법의 분기를 확인하였다. 이와 함께 장자가 말하는 큰 깨어남으로서 진정한 깨어남의 의미를 드러냄으로써 그가 나누어짐이 없는 道, 즉 ‘가지런한 물[齊物]’의 참된 세계를 제시하고 있음을 확인하였다.
The purpose of this article is to discuss issues relating to the meaning of transformation of things with the great awakening in Chuang-tzu’s dream of butterfly. A decipherment on the meaning of the transformation of things is directly connected with the understanding of fundamental meaning of “On the Equality of Things” and close connected with several ways of reading on the title of “On the Equality of Things”. Futhermore, it is connected with the full understanding of Chuang-tzu. Like this, the meaning of the transformation of things and several ways of reading on the title of “On the Equality of Things” is reflect the difference of interpreter’s view of Chuang-tzu's Philosophy. So I ascertained a diverging point of several ways of reading on “On the Equality of Things”. And I proved the meaning of great awakening as real awakening in the undivided Tao, that is true world of the equality of things.
