“서술(敍述)”은 ‘말할 거리를 말로써 풀어내는 일’이자 그렇게 풀 어낸 말을 ‘말이 되도록 이어나가는 일’이다. 서술은 보통 “주어+술어”의 형 식으로써 이야기를 짜 나가는 것과 같지만 이러한 서술 형식보다 근본적 형 식은 “(주어+목적어)+술어”가 될 수 있다. 만일 우리가 “(주어+목적어)”를 일종의 “매듭”으로 볼 수 있고, “술어”를 “풀이말”로 새길 수 있다면, 서술은 간단히 ‘매듭-풀이’라고 말해질 수 있다. 서술은 말할 거리가 얽혀 있는 복잡 한 매듭(관계)을 말의 매듭으로써 가지런히 풀어내고 펼쳐내는 풀이, 즉 ‘매 듭-풀이’이다. 상상력(想像力)은 이러한 풀어냄의 능력 또는 “맥락을 넘어서거나 옮기는 능력”, 즉 “넘겨 옮김(metaphor/은유, 隱喩)의 능력”이다. 이렇게 넘겨 옮 겨지는 것이 곧 이미지이다. 이미지는 사라질 수밖에 없는 것들을 끝까지 보 존하는 것일 뿐 아니라, 현재 살아있는 사람들의 삶을 영원의 세계로 이끌고 지켜 주는 것, 달리 말해, 어떤 것을 우리가 직접 경험하고 있을 때의 생생한 모습을 말한다. “이미지”는 “생생-모습”이라 새길 수 있다. 조각상은 실물이나 가상물의 가장 특별한 상징적 모습을 생생하게 빚기 위한 것이고, 사진은 어 떤 것을 그 재현의 가장 아름다운 모습에서 생생하게 나타내기 위한 것이며, 그림은 어떤 것을 그것의 가장 인상 깊은 모습에서 생생하게 내보이기 위한 것이다. 서술은 이러한 ‘생생-모습’을 말과 글로써 지어내는 한 방식이다. 예술 적 상상력이 ‘생생-모습’을 다양한 장르의 예술을 통해 구현하듯 ‘말로써 생생 모습 짓기(언어적 상상력)’는 말의 마술로써 ‘보이는 것으로부터 보이지 않 는 것’을 풀어낸다. ‘매듭-풀이’에서 매듭에 속하는 것과 풀이에 속하는 것은 그 차원이 완전히 다르다. ‘생생-모습’이 주어지지 않는다면 그것에 ‘대한’ 풀이도 주어질 수 없 지만, 풀이할 말이나 낱말이 갖춰져 있지 않다면 ‘생생-모습’은 아무것도 아 니게 된다. 풀이의 종류는 여러 가지이다. 먼저 ‘로서-풀이’는 우리가 ‘어떤 것’을 그것이 우리 자신의 익숙한 일상 세계에서 해석되어 있는 그대로 풀이 하는 것을 말하고, ‘부터-풀이’는 일상적 해석의 유래와 근원을 거슬러 오르 는 방식의 풀어내기를 뜻하며, ‘초점-풀이’는 특정한 주제에 집중하는 과학적 탐구와 같고, ‘엮음-풀이’는 세계에 대한 새로운 해석의 길을 열어 준다.


“Description” means the activity to unravel something to say by words, and to continue the unraveled words to make sense. Description usually refers to form a story using subject-predicate structure. However, the more fundamental one than this should be the structure of “(subject-object) and predicate.” Description can be seen simply as “untying-knot”, only if we recognize “subjects and objects” as a kind of “knots” and “predicate” as a “words for explanation.” Anyway, Description is like “untying-knot,” that is, the neat and clear explanation of complicated knots, entangled by things to say. Imagination means the ability to explain or transfer things going beyond the context. That is, the ability to use “metaphors.” It is an image that things to be transferred. Image preserves things going to perish, leading everyone’s life to be immortal. In other words, Image keeps the vivid figures of people who are experiencing something eternally. Therefore, Image can be seen as a “vivid-figure” Description is a way to explain this “vivid-figure” by written and spoken language, in the same way as statues, pictures and drawings exist in order to show the highlights of some real or artificial figures vividly, which is the most special, beautiful and impressive. As if the artistic imagination realizes this “vivid-figure” through the various kinds of arts, “Linguistic imagination” does through the magic of words. It takes out something visible from invisible things. In “untying-knot,” there is a total difference between things belonging to “knots” and “untying.” If there is no “vivid-figure,” its explanation would be impossible, but if there are no words or languages to explain the figure, that vivid figure would be nothing. There are several kinds of “untying” the knots: as-untying, from-untying, focng, f-untying and group, f-untying. “As-untying” is explaining something as it is, ng, frits actual definition. “From-untying” is explaining something in the way of finding where the term came from, going back to the origin of the word’s definition. “Focng, f-untying” is like as-cientific investigation, in that it concentrates on particular topics. And “grouping-untying” allows people to interpret the world in a wholly new aspect.
