본 논문은 현재 도덕ㆍ윤리교과의 학문적 정체성과 관련하여 논 란이 되고 있는 정치학적 주제와 내용을 전면적으로 검토하려는 목적을 가지 고, 서구철학 특히 아리스토텔레스의 철학에서 윤리학과 정치학의 관계와 궁 극적 목표 등에 기초하여 적절한 정치철학적 주제를 확인해보고자 한다. 전 통적으로 윤리학과 정치학 또는 정치철학의 궁극적인 목적은 동일했으며, 그 것의 범위가 달랐을 뿐이다. 사실 고대 그리스에서 정치학적 주제는 윤리적 이며, 윤리학적 주제는 정치적일 수밖에 없었다. 그것은 개인적 차원에서 다 루느냐, 또는 국가 공동체의 차원에서 다루느냐에 따라 달랐다. 그러나 근대 이후에 철학으로 통합되어 있던 학문이 분과별로 독립되면서 윤리학과 정치 학은 전혀 다른 방향으로 발전되어 갔다. 특히 윤리학은 철학의 세부 분야로 인문과학에 속하며, 정치학은 독립된 분과로 사회과학에 속한다. 따라서 그 것들은 서로 다른 학문적 방법론을 가지고 있어 전혀 다른 내용을 다루고 있 다. 전통적으로 고대 그리스철학에서 정치학이 다루던 주요 목표와 원리 등 과 관련된 내용은 정치철학에서 다루고 있다. 따라서 오늘날 도덕 교과에서 정치와 관련된 주제나 내용은 주로 정치철학의 범위 내에서 다루어질 필요가 있다. 나아가 도덕 교과서에서 정치와 관련된 주제와 내용은 사회과학적 방 법이 아니라 철학적 방법으로 다루어질 필요가 있다. 기존에 논란이 되었던 반공교육이나 통일교육은 특성상 사회과학적 접근 방식으로 다루어졌으며 특 정 이데올로기를 무조건적으로 옹호하는 내용을 무비판적으로 수용하고 있기 때문에 윤리교육이나 철학과에서 문제를 삼았던 것이다. 만약 도덕ㆍ윤리 교 과에서 보다 합리적이고 비판적인 방식으로 정치철학적 주제와 내용을 다룬 다면 이러한 문제들은 해소될 수 있을 것이다.

This treatise is aimed to examine political subject and it’s contents, and to research proper subject and method of political philosophy in light of the ultimate goal of ancient ethics and politics. In ancient greek philosophy, they have same goal, but different range. The political subject is ethical, and ethical subject is political, because greeks thought that ethical and political are one and same. They couldn’t imagine about individual separated from polis, because human beings are by nature political animal(politikon zoon). In modern times, philosophy was divided a various kinds of department. Ethics and politics was developed in different way. Ethics as a branch of philosophy is belonged to human science, but politics is belonged to social science. In comtemporary times, it is political philosophy that deals with important goal and principles of politics in ancient greek philosophy. Therefore it is necessary to deal with political subject and it’s contents in moral or ethical education within political philosophy. Now why are anti-communism and unification-security education criticised by philosophers at present times? Because it is approached by the methodology of social science, and advocated specific ideology non-critically. If moral and ethical education would be critically dealt with proper subject and it’s contents of political philosophy, these problems would be solved by itself.
