대학 글쓰기는 전공과 관련된 학문 분야로 이루어진 담화공동체 안에서의 글쓰기라는 점에서 일반적인 글쓰기와는 다른 특성을 가진다. 대학 에서의 글쓰기는 지식의 재창조 과정을 통해 이루어낸 결과를 공유하기 위한 글쓰기가 주된 목표이어야 하며, 따라서 전공 교육과 별개로 존재하는 글쓰 기 교육이 아니라 전문성을 통합해 낼 수 있는 글쓰기 교육이 되어야 한다. 같은 맥락에서 글쓰기 교육은 사고 능력 신장에만 초점을 맞출 수 없으며, 담화공동체 내의 타인들과 소통하기 위한 표현 능력에도 많은 주의를 기울여 야 한다. 대학 글쓰기는 그들이 속해 있는 담화공동체의 기본 지식을 바탕으 로 이미 정해진 관습적 표현 양식, 사고 과정의 틀을 존중해야 한다. 현재 몇몇 대학에서 시도되고 있는 계열별 글쓰기는 이와 같은 대학 글쓰기의 특 성을 고려한 형태이다. 이밖에도 ‘문제해결과정’을 중시한 글쓰기 등 여러 학 문 분야의 공통된 관심사를 글쓰기 교육에 반영하려는 노력이 필요하다. 어 떤 형태로든 대학 글쓰기는 글쓰기 교육의 수요자들이 필요로 하는 내용과 절차를 담아내는 일이 중요한 과제가 된다.

In addition, it is needed for us to put an effort to reflect shared interests of various fields of study such as ‘problem-solving process’ focused writing. In any ways, it is a prior role of Writing In University to cover process and content of what the learners need.
