AB - The words of “ ”、“ ”、“ ”、“ ”in the oracle bone inscriptions have various interpretations. Professor Qiu Xigui claims that it is pronounced as Bi just like the word in the Chinese phrase Cheng Qian Bi Hou, which means warning and subduing. And Professor Qiu’s view is accepted popularly. While Professor Li Xueqin has claimed that it is pronounced as Yi like the word in the phrase Yi Lie. This paper focuses on the shape of the word and its use examples. The writer suggests that the word should be interpreted as Yi.
