There are three types of handwritten Sangseo jiwonrog(尙書知遠錄). One of them was put in Yeoyudangjeonseo boyu(與猶堂全書補遺)(type A), another one is in the possession of Seoul National University Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies(type B), and the last one is part of the Asami(淺見) Collection of Berkeley University, U.S.A.(type C). In this paper, I closely compared type A’s character with type B’s character to make clear that several steps were taken of correcting manuscript after1810 when the rough copy of Sangseo jiwonrog was made. I think there were four steps to correcting the Sangseo jiwonrog manuscript. These four steps are as follows: First, Cheong Yagyong made a rough copy of Sangseo jiwonrog. Second, he corrected the rough copy, and the correction was applied in type B. Third, Cheong Yagyong corrected the rough copy further, but the correction wasn’t applied to type B. Forth, his grandson-in-law Yun Jeonggi(尹廷琦) corrected the manuscript after he died. In these four steps, the third step can be divided once again. I expect to be able to explain more about this after securing the type C manuscript.
