이 글은 아이러니가 어떻게 인간의 성격을 부식시키는가 하는 의문에서 출발한다. 다시 말해서, 아이러니가 어떤 대상에 대한 의심과 회의와 비판의 정신이 아니라 그 대상의 모순과 불확실성에 기초한 근대적 유동성의 현실을 나타낸다는 전제 아래, 손창섭의 소설 「혈서」와 장용학의 소설 「비인 탄생」을 대상으로 그런 유동적인 상황으로서의 전후 현실이 등장인물들의 의식과 행위에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써 두 사람의 작가가 제시하는 전후소설의 인간상을 탐구하는 것이 이 글의 목적이다. 탐구의 결과, 「혈서」는 근대적 유동성이 첨예화된 전후의 사변적인 현실을 배경으로 확실성이 더 이상 삶을 붙들어 주지 못하는 세계의 아이러니를 경험하는 사람들의 도덕적 무감각을 “우연히 살아 있는 인간”이라는 비인간적 형상을 통해 집약하는 것으로 나타난다. 그런가 하면 「비인 탄생」은 유동성과 불확실성이 지배하는 근대성의 첨예화된 형태로서의 전후 현실 안에서 그러한 비인간성이 극단화되는 양상을 드러낸다. 말하자면 전후에 나타나는 삶의 아이러니는 사람들을 궁극적으로 울분과 광기가 결합된 비인간으로서의 “사나운 짐승”으로 만들게 되는데, 이것은 쓸모없는 상품을 만들어 파는 것을 유용한 일로 간주하는 6･70년대 산업 사회의 아이러니가 야기할 문학사적 사태를 짐작하게 한다. 비인간적인 변신 과정을 예고하는 것이다.
This writing departs from the question about how a ironical situation corrodes characters of men. To put it concretely, the goal of this writing searches for human images which two postwar writers represent, by menas of analyzing that human beings are effected by irony as a situation in Son, Chang-seop's postwar novel 「Writing in Blood」 and Jang, Yong-hak's postwar novel 「Inhuman Birth」, with the assumption that irony is not a spirit which shows suspicion and reexamination, skepticism and criticism about certain subjects but a modern situation which establishes in contradiction and opacity of those. As a result of the quest, 「Writing in Blood」 with background of postwar reality in which modernity has been radicalized, converges a moral insensibility of the people who experiences irony of the world that necessity can't catch the human life into an inhuman image of ‘accidentally living human being.’ Meanwhile, 「Inhuman Birth」 shows aspects in such inhumanity which is radicalized in the maelstrom of undergoing an irresolute irony of postwar reality that can't be made out through contingency of ground being substituted for necessity of heaven. That is to say, an ironical modern life will ultimately creates a ‘fierce beast’ as non-human being combined insanity with resentment with the people. Finally, an ironical reality expels a kind of mature formation from life, and limits it in a process of transformation. How does the irony corrode characters of human being? It makes those inhumanly.
